My son is OK - thanks for the support
My boy, who is 17, yet parts of him are like a child, parts of him a teen, parts of him like an 11 year old, it's a jumble in there developmentally - he was at a friend's house earlier, up the road - but when he left his friend's house hours ago and told him he was heading home, he never arrived. He didn't bother to charge his phone this morning and it died earlier. I did go once to pick him up, but I was a bit ticked because he yanks me around like a taxi driver and I just bought him a nice skateboard which he cruises quite fast on. He will get like 4-5 blocks from home and then insist I drop everything and go find him. I did try, but he was not there and he has no phone and I figured he was being a flake so I went back home. Then he told me he had never left his friend's house and I told him then you need to just skate home - it is sunset and cooler outside, no biggie - he can make it in like 10 minutes, 15 tops. He left there over two hours ago - and has not been seen since. He has no money, didn't contact anyone else, everyone I call - the few that he hangs with, have not seen him. He has school in the morning, and this is just not normal. I know he's a teenager and they do get impulsive, but I'm literally FREAKING OUT! I called the Sheriff to report him missing but they don't look for them unless they are either totally handicapped or a young child, otherwise they just assume they will find their way home or sooner or later get in trouble and be found. But he is a pretty good kid and doesn't do things to get the attention of cops, anyway. I have prayed and I just don't have a good feeling about it right now. The road from here to there is dark, and mostly businesses and empty lots and nothing is really open. I called to be sure there were no accidents along the route, or anything. He has his wallet and ID on him. I am kicking myself for not going back again to get him, but he has been wearing me, and what little gas I have left, to the bone lately. I am trying to get him to be more responsible - he knows better.

I pray for his safe and sound return home.

But you might call the police as well as the sheriff, if you have not already. Under the circumstances our police dept. would certainly put out some effort to look for him, so maybe yours would too.

He just drive around town looking for him. Ask your friends to help you as well. Leave a note on your house door incase he shows up and tell him to stay put. Are there any stores nearby that can possibly catch him on their security cameras to see which direction he went?

The Sheriff just came, they are gonna look around - but not sure what good that will do becuz I already tried that. I'm probably just worrying too much, I wish he were not developmentally disabled, might worry less, but I think I would worry no matter what age if he just vanishes.

Thanks - there are no police here - each town is governed by one or the other. Most stores are closed by now this late. He is probably at someone's house being impulsive and trying to make me suffer for not picking him up. That would also not surprise me, but it's sure better than something bad happening to him. He's done this like 80 times in the past few years, but I never get used to it - he also got his younger brother doing it, but he is much better at hiding and staying gone - those kids will be the death of me. I just felt like this was unusual and it's harder because I cannot text or call him. You never know which time it might be something happened to them rather than they are just out goofing off - just cannot tell the difference a lot of the time - that's what drives me nuts. Especially with so many people vanishing right now, old and young alike - I think they are readying for sacrifices and things - hate to say that, but it's true.

Re: My son is OK - thanks for the support
It's always embarrassing, too, because so many teens run off, the cops become irritated with you if you report them now - especially if they've done it before, or if they have only been missing a couple hours or more. They act like you don't do anything yourself to find them and as if you are just sitting around eating pizza and making them look for your kid, but that's not it at all. I put the miles in, make fliers, call everyone, do it all. A lot of times I find them, sometimes I don't. I have gotten better at it - but at this age I have less and less idea of where he goes and who he hangs with as far as where they live and stuff. He wants a lot more privacy and that makes it hard to track him when needed.

That's pretty rude - shilling my post? whatever - I doubt you even know anything about autism as it is. Don't kick a mother when she's down - I just want my kid home safe, like any other parent.

Thank you - I don't have much assistance around here as far as people to help me look. I moved a year ago and most of my friends are a good distance away now. I'm sure it will be alright.

Thanks so much for the prayers, everyone - I don't usually go on GLP for prayers, but at least the thread is helping me keep my mind off of it some.

Yes, I did that, now I am here waiting for him while the sheriff looks for him - they are actually better at it than I am. He's not sitting on the side of the road, anyway. I am disabled and I can only do so much right now. I looked for him for 5 1/2 hours today and this town is so huge, it's like a needle in a haystack - and I have poor vision at night, like bad. I will go out again in a bit if nothing turns up by then. He does not have a house key because he keeps losing it, so I don't want him to be locked out with me running around town, either.
