Anonymous Coward User ID: 31340483 United States 09/18/2013 09:47 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Former World Bank Senior Counsel Karen Hudes says, “It’s pretty clear where we’re headed, and that is something called permanent gold backwardation. That’s a fancy word for people losing confidence in paper currency. That means the value of currency in the future is less than today.” How bad is “permanent gold backwardation”? Hudes, who spent 20 years at the World Bank, says, “This is not just a bad event. This is like the meltdown of all meltdowns. What it means is you cannot finance international trade.” Hudes goes on to say, “Just think about what that would mean in terms of the jobless rate. It’s going to make any depression we ever had (the 30’s, 2008) pale in comparison.” Quoting: No More Lies Hudes says even though the credit ratings agencies rate U.S. debt high, they know just the opposite is true. Hudes contends, “This is actually an underhanded move because they know the U.S. dollar is going to lose its status as an international currency.” What would that look like to the man on the street? Hudes predicts, “Prices would change on a daily basis. They would double. The number of families that would be employed would be in the minority . . . there would be lawlessness.” Join Greg Hunter as he goes One-on-One with former World Bank lawyer Hmmm....sounds like Detroit and Chicago. |

How do these guys think the bankers got so rich and powerful in the first place? They controlled gold during the gold standard days. They can just as easily create booms and busts by controlling the gold supply as they can with their current methods. Interest and scarcity of money are the problems. Backing money with a scarce resource is not going to fix either of these problems. |

It can be declared void at any moment I don't think you understand what "fiat currency" means. Uhhh, yes I do, fiat means declared. Bitcoin is a declared value of an imaginary entity. At least gold as a standard has physical limitations of assigned value and can only be added to with great expense which reinforces its value. This is contradistiction to value assigned to any entity real or imagined that can be conjured up in endless denominations and endless amounts. The only real value of gold or other limited availability entities is that they can be represented by other representatives, but when these representatives can be inflated any validity and representation is corrupted. One must comprehend the fundamental difference between what's being represented and how it's being represented. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 28671925 United States 09/18/2013 10:16 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Fiat was initially intended to represent real valuables at an honest one to one ratio, but quickly enough there were those that understood that they could generate more fiat and corrupt the one to one promise. That's the origin of inflation, and someone pockets that difference of what you earned and what you ended up with. Inflation is a stealth tax who's only source is the govt/bank collusion. Sure, they claim you benefit, but they benefit far more than you ever can. All of you that think you have gained money through this mechanism fail to comprehend that youre costs have been backloaded, because you still owe for the debt as long as you're alive and all it takes is another fiat that declares you have to pay up. |
