Surely you have erred at some time in your life and the realisation of that error has caused you to shed tears. It was only that realisation that hit you for up until then you weren't really bothered. Now extrapolate that into realising that your sins were born by Jesus as He died the most wickedest of deaths - and that by his stripes you too can be healed. People live their entire lives with guilt and shame over things that they have done and it keeps the worlds religions in business - right along with the alcohol and drug suppliers. A drunk driver kills someone and often times the only thing that can help to heal their guilt and remorse is forgiveness from the victim's family. Why? Surely you know - their guilt and shame is unbearable. Being truly forgiven lets a person move on in a new path, a path of not forgetting but letting go of the guilt and shame. Jesus Christ does the same for each person, freeing them. Through teaching, He brings realisation of our actions and thoughts and motives, gently leading us into his righteousness. He doesn't condemn me as He brings an issue before me - but he presents it to me to grow through and past it. The lies must be broken down in order for truth to take its place. It is a painful process.

But yet, you think it's 'doing nothing'. Here is what is doing nothing - sticking ones head in the sand by refusing to be accountable for any action and word spoken, by refusing to acknowledge one's wrongdoings, for refusing to think that the Almighty is HOLY HOLY HOLY and for not recognising that man is NOT NOT NOT. What is the difference between a drunk driver with absolutely no remorse over their actions and a drunk driver convicted in their heart and conscience? The former will never ever seek the forgiveness and healing, and the other will. And yet, you say that the latter one "did nothing". Tell it to the next victim of the former one who will carry on in his behaviour destroying yet more lives.

man is programmed to survive. People go to religion because they want to survive and believe its what they have to do to survive. So the motive is wrong to start with - its not love, its fear of destruction. If that were not the operating principle, the promise of salvation would not be laced with a threat. And it absolutely is laced with a threat: "take my gift, or else" - that proves that the entire psychological mechanism of religion is fear, not love. No sane, honest person can state otherwise.
And the fact that one adopts the faith demonstrates absolutely nothing about the purity of their intentions. It demonstrates that they believed the story of the religion. That much is obvious because ANYONE who actually believes the story of a religion is going to obey it.

Original manuscripts from the Bible date back to 50 AD and there are more than 20,000 of them.

If you destroyed all of them and all the bibles in existence, you could still reconstruct the New Testament from letters fro the early followers alone.

As opposed to many Roman and Greeks like Plato, Aristotle, Livy, etc, where original manuscripts date 1,000 years after they were said to have been written.

At least 10 of the 12 Disciples died torturous deaths rather than deny Christ rose again and lived w them for many days.

There is truly a worse place for those who try to cause true Believers in Jesus Christ to fall or sin. These deceivers often use others to accomplish their goals. Its one thing to not believe, its quite another to lure a true believer away from Jesus.
