Quoting: Swan Ronson Raising the debt ceiling doesn't increase the nation's debt, Pres. Obama declared in a speech today. In a speech at the Business Roundtable headquarters in Washington, D.C., Obama dismissed concerns about raising the debt ceiling by noting that it'd been done so many times in the past: "Now, this debt ceiling -- I just want to remind people in case you haven't been keeping up -- raising the debt ceiling, which has been done over a hundred times, does not increase our debt; it does not somehow promote profligacy. All it does is it says you got to pay the bills that you've already racked up, Congress. It's a basic function of making sure that the full faith and credit of the United States is preserved." Obama went on to suggest that "the average person" mistakenly thinks that raising the debt ceiling means the U.S. is racking up more debt: - See more at: [link to cnsnews.com] Hey dipshit...he's right. The debt ceiling has absolutely nothing to do with the national debt or spending deficits. Econ 101. |

If they cut back we would not have the debt, thus eliminating the need to raise the debt ceiling. Not only has the US elected a stupid president, we've elected an even more stupid congress. |

Half of the voters like what is says; the other half know that everything he says is a lie. The only solution to the amount of debt we have is inflation. If we have enough inflation, the value of everything decreases, including our debt. I loved it under Jimmy Carter with 20% inflation - in a few years I could afford my house payment. It should work the same way for the feds.... Unfortunately, QE is their basic weapon to create inflation, but it's not enough to overcome our economic weakness (recession). We are in so much shit right now that if they stopped QE, we would have deflation (value of money increases). There would be no incentive to invest or spend, everyone would just hold onto their money. The only reason this still works is that the rest of the world is worse off than we are. So when the house of cards falls, it will be everyone. |

Poche' User ID: 36958281 United States 09/19/2013 01:13 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's simple things like this that make me not take people seriously when they get all worked up and angrily rant about certain things. We allow such ridiculous things to happen. Someone getting venomous over an insulting word or a honked horn.. Yet that same person may hear a politician lie and just say "Oh well they all do that." If you can brush off a politician not representing the people, why do you not brush off minor inconveniences. Angry over a parking spot or wait in line... Make excuses for a lying official because he wears blue instead of red.. And vice versa. Quoting: Poche' We are clearly insane as a people. There is no consistency. Somehow the acceptance of that has made me content. Now I can laugh and make a joke out of just about everything. That makes me happy. Join me. It's fun! I respect your decision, but I choose to give a damn and not drink the "Dont Worry Be Happy" Kool-aid. All is not well. Washington is seriously screwed up, starting with the bozo in the White House. It's unclear to me that Obomba and his clown crew inner-circle know how to tie their shoelaces, nevermind run the USofA. Thanks buddy, I hear ya. What I meant by Simple was meant in comparison to the rest of his antics. I still care, and I take any opportunity I can to point out the nonsense. I just make it fun and don't get emotional over it. It's my coping skill if you will. I'm still on board with trying help people see, but I can't get too emotional or else I can't live. They say that if we do not learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it. They also say that history is written by the victorious. What I have learned from history is that the recorded accounts of humanity's past are nearly always manipulated for the benefit of the current ruling power's agenda. Why not a 50 trillion dollar debt? 100 trillion? When the amount is jnot payable, the amount may as well be nothing. Surely they wouldn't make the same mistake again, would they? Quoting: *Rhombus* Ahahahahahahahahahahahaha! This is all just 'asking permission after doing the deed' - the debt ceiling was breached over 100 days ago. They've been borrowing from the Government Employees Pension Fund for operating expenses since April or May. That, in and of itself, should tell you how much they "don't intend to actually use it"... the money is *already spent* |

We'd have to cut spending by about half to just break even. I don't see that ever happening. How long will it take it reach 100 trillion dollars? Quoting: JohnC 36687989 None of that matters, when spending reaches 50% of GDP for one fiscal year sustained... It will all come crashing down, nothing will stop it now...
