"It's welfare reform 2.0. It is pretty exciting," says Rep. Tim Huelskamp, R-Kan., one lawmaker who has been pushing to chop $40 billion from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, during the next 10 years. "I think it is a very compassionate approach, targeting and reforming food stamps from being a way of life."

Not enough- I would cut it 24 billion over 5 years but the actual cut would be 27 because three billion would be used for investigating all the fraud that has occurred.

The religion of submission cannot survive an open and honest discussion of its convoluted and foolish scriptures, its sexually perverted terrorist prophet, or its deceitful and demented god. When Western leaders become unified and resolute in their hostility to Islam's violent and ungodly beginnings, Muslims will flee the religion because they will be horrified by its endorsement of terrorism, mass murder, slave trading, plunder, kidnapping, and rape.

If Muslims & their apologists really want to cure "Islamophobia," here is an easy way. Focus their indignation on Muslims committing violent acts in the name of Islam, not on non-Muslims reporting on those acts.

Re: GOP bill to cut 40 Billion dollars in FOOD STAMPS!
First, liberal propaganda debunk: The stated amount of the proposed cut is the sum over a 10-year period, meaning the proposed cut is $4 billion out of $83 billion, or around 5%.

The food stamp program was $40 billion per year smaller in 2008, and I don't seem to remember millions of people starving in the streets back then. Are we now supposed to believe that cutting the program from $83 billion to $80 billion will have any real negative effect on anyone?

Doesn't the Democrat response to this proposed cut sorta raise a question about the supposed "economic recovery" being touted in the LMSM? If the economy was actually recovering, shouldn't we expect fewer and fewer people to need assistance?

To me, it is a direct admission that the Democrats know damn well that their economic agenda has failed, kinda like Bernanke announcing that he was "just kidding" about tapering QE. That was a REAL doozy: QE hasn't worked, so we can't stop it now. Only a liberal could use that sort pretzel logic. And always does.

The problem is all the fraud. The illegals rip this program off like crazy, they think they are entitled to rip it off. Someone should track all the dollars/food that goes back to Mexico because of the program.

They need to create a bill to enforce the laws on this and prevent fraud. How could Obama veto that?

Take that $40 billion and invest it in infrastructure protects that will provide job opportunities in severely depressed areas. Add a requirement that all contractors and job applicants must prove US citizenship, and expand that policy to all government stimulus spending and infrastructure projects.

Put people to work, give them no choice, one way out of welfare dependence.

Stimulate the economy by deeply cutting spending in wasteful government expansions and make that money available to the private sector, especially small business. Incentives for hiring including tax breaks and grants.

Don't just take the food stamps without a strategy to make things better across the board.

This would work, but it will never fly.
