I'm an American. Not that a Thai person couldn't outclass you too.

Result of simple web searches:

The government spends about $900 billion on Medicare and Medicaid, $870 billion on Social Security, $575 billion on welfare = $2,345 billion. It spends about $660 billion on the DoD, including the appropriations for the wars. 2,343/660 = 3.55

The government collected $2.4 trillion in taxes in 2006, $2.7 trillion in 2008, and it projects to collect $2.9 trillion in taxes in 2013. So, tax collections are increasing.

The poor are paid their benefits from people's taxes. According to figures from the IRS, the top 5% of wage earners pay roughly 60% of the taxes. Thus, without rich folks, the poor would starve.
Thanks for playing.

That's total nonsense...etc.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 47058396
Wrong, it's well documented. And, it's also well documented that since the 1950s, cutting taxes has increased government revenues every time it was done, including under Kennedy. Yep, that's right, Kennedy was an early "supply-sider" back before the term had been invented.

The rich are dependent on the poor, not the poor are depended on the rich. The rich have turned into money blood suckers.

"It's welfare reform 2.0. It is pretty exciting," says Rep. Tim Huelskamp, R-Kan., one lawmaker who has been pushing to chop $40 billion from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, during the next 10 years. "I think it is a very compassionate approach, targeting and reforming food stamps from being a way of life."
 Quoting: Melrox

Who said anything about a 'way-of-life'?

What's so 'very compassionate' about this?

Maybe the shallow people you hang around with, but not everybody. Some people still have things called "principles".

When the last company I worked for went bust, they gave me a form I could use to apply for unemployment. I framed it, hung it on my wall, then started my own business. Never took one cent from the government.

The implied warrant in your statement is that people who are in favor of reducing the food stamp program by this minuscule amount ($4 billion per year out of $83 billion)want to cancel it. That is nonsense. If people really need it they should have it.

However, when more than 100 million people receive government food assistance, a number greater than the total number of full-time private sector workers in the US, it becomes pretty clear that the government's priorities need to shift from creating dependency to creating jobs.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 47107726

And how many of those 100 million people are the working poor? Why don't we just cut the whole program and save that $85 billion a year for something else...etc.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 4047465
Are you really this stupid, or did you not reach the 4th grade reading level yet?

Try reading this over and over again until you understand it:

"If people really need it they should have it."

Republicans are calling for a cut of $4 billion per year out of a budget of $83 billion.

Or, if you prefer this in libtard propaganda numbers, they are proposing to cut $40 billion out of a program projected to cost $830 billion.

Any way you cut it, the cut is about 4.8%.

Even in the single-celled brain of the most intelligent libtard, that is nothing resembling "cutting the whole program".
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 47107726

So why are you rethugs so dense with Obamacare?

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet, could it be that it would change the conversation? I don't believe anything will be cut from the SNAP program.....

A new report by the Government Accountability Institute finds that JP Morgan has made at least $560,492,596 since 2004 processing the Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards of 18 of the 24 states it has under contract for the food stamp program.

Indeed, JP Morgan’s Christopher Paton told Bloomberg News that food stamps are big business for the big bank:

“We are the largest processor of food stamps in the country…[the EBT program] is a very important business to JP Morgan. It’s an important business in terms of its size and scale…. Right now volumes have gone through the roof in the past couple of years or so. The good news from JP Morgan’s perspective is the infrastructure that we built has been able to cope with that increase in volume.”

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 47115479
Correct. Actually, there are two mythical creatures out there that are presently being called "Republican":

- So-called neocons, who are actually RINOs and should be Democrats, and

- The illusory "Republican" created by the LMSM and other aspects of the liberal lie machine. This mythological construct wants rich people to have all the money while the poor and helpless starve.

The liberal/socialist elites have brainwashed their useful idiots so completely that they are unaware of and in fact reject the entire concept of the fact that actual Republicans/conservatives are nothing like what they've been told.

You might as well save your breath, only somebody who is already a conservative knows that liberals are lying and the useful idiots are swearing to it. Short of physical intervention and shock therapy, there is little chance of deprogramming the libtard useful idiots. Or perhaps the realization that comes with having half your first paycheck taken by the government and given to someone who has never worked a day in his life.

There are too many progressives on both sides to actually make a change for the better. I doubt they can even get half the repuglicans to vote for it. Their idea of welfare reform is to give more tax dollars to the people that are too lazy to work. Food stamps should only be used for subsistance. Most people on food stamps (SNAP) are eating better than me, and I've been working my ass off for 45 years.
Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.

Why not cut the black budget? You could get a hell of a lot more from that.

Or, quit spending our tax dollars on spying on the American people.
