Not that a Thai person couldn't outclass you too. Result of simple web searches: The government spends about $900 billion on Medicare and Medicaid, $870 billion on Social Security, $575 billion on welfare = $2,345 billion. It spends about $660 billion on the DoD, including the appropriations for the wars. 2,343/660 = 3.55 The government collected $2.4 trillion in taxes in 2006, $2.7 trillion in 2008, and it projects to collect $2.9 trillion in taxes in 2013. So, tax collections are increasing. The poor are paid their benefits from people's taxes. According to figures from the IRS, the top 5% of wage earners pay roughly 60% of the taxes. Thus, without rich folks, the poor would starve. Thanks for playing. That's total nonsense...etc. The rich are dependent on the poor, not the poor are depended on the rich. The rich have turned into money blood suckers. |

It is pretty exciting," says Rep. Tim Huelskamp, R-Kan., one lawmaker who has been pushing to chop $40 billion from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, during the next 10 years. "I think it is a very compassionate approach, targeting and reforming food stamps from being a way of life." Who said anything about a 'way-of-life'? What's so 'very compassionate' about this? The Republicans are shooting themselves in the foot. AGAIN! You can hear the democrats now: "SEE, SEE? They fell all over themselves to give TRILLIONS to the BANKERS and WALL STREET, but pinch pennies when it comes to the poor." They don't pick their battles well, and they reinforce every negative stereotype every chance they get. If they keep it up, they will blow 2014. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 47107726 Maybe the shallow people you hang around with, but not everybody. Some people still have things called "principles". When the last company I worked for went bust, they gave me a form I could use to apply for unemployment. I framed it, hung it on my wall, then started my own business. Never took one cent from the government. The implied warrant in your statement is that people who are in favor of reducing the food stamp program by this minuscule amount ($4 billion per year out of $83 billion)want to cancel it. That is nonsense. If people really need it they should have it. However, when more than 100 million people receive government food assistance, a number greater than the total number of full-time private sector workers in the US, it becomes pretty clear that the government's priorities need to shift from creating dependency to creating jobs. And how many of those 100 million people are the working poor? Why don't we just cut the whole program and save that $85 billion a year for something else...etc. Try reading this over and over again until you understand it: "If people really need it they should have it." Republicans are calling for a cut of $4 billion per year out of a budget of $83 billion. Or, if you prefer this in libtard propaganda numbers, they are proposing to cut $40 billion out of a program projected to cost $830 billion. Any way you cut it, the cut is about 4.8%. Even in the single-celled brain of the most intelligent libtard, that is nothing resembling "cutting the whole program". So why are you rethugs so dense with Obamacare? because its 20,000 pages of BS!!! that no one read before passing it. Puckosi said so herself. |

I don't believe anything will be cut from the SNAP program..... A new report by the Government Accountability Institute finds that JP Morgan has made at least $560,492,596 since 2004 processing the Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards of 18 of the 24 states it has under contract for the food stamp program. Indeed, JP Morgan’s Christopher Paton told Bloomberg News that food stamps are big business for the big bank: “We are the largest processor of food stamps in the country…[the EBT program] is a very important business to JP Morgan. It’s an important business in terms of its size and scale…. Right now volumes have gone through the roof in the past couple of years or so. The good news from JP Morgan’s perspective is the infrastructure that we built has been able to cope with that increase in volume.” [link to www.breitbart.com] If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough." -Albert Einstein ------------------------------------- ------------------------------------- The problem is not the problem, the problem is your attitude about the problem. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "May future generations look back on our work and say that these were men and women who, in a moment of great crisis, stood up to their politicians, the opinion-makers, and the establishment, and saved their country." - Dr. Ron Paul ..........................................................................
