Anyone else notice how cyclists are getting more entitled? | |

Packs just taking over the road where the cars should be. I don't really mind them, they tend to be in shape and look cute in the martian helmets but if you're in a hurry and end behind them good luck! |

ssle User ID: 44553387 United States 09/19/2013 12:24 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | We don't have bike lanes here in Cow Land. Most of the cyclists are nice and stay close to the shoulder so traffic can go around them. But some need to be run over. Like the assholes who ride down the center of the road and block the combines. Those things go slow enough without have to wait for a cyclist to pedal his dainty little feet a little harder. Everyone is worth knowing. Everything is worth learning. You're never too good. You're never not good enough. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 18835401 United States 09/19/2013 12:26 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | In most jurisdictions I'm aware of bicycles are vehicles and have full access to city streets, that means they can use all lanes any other vehicle has access to. And as a side note, you likely will soon be priced out of the gasoline market, so I suggest getting a bike yourself, and start riding through the city to see what your future will be like. |

Oh don't worry there. I own several bikes. I ride them all the time. Annnd I'm moving OUT of the city. ONCE AGAIN the issue I am asking about is BLOCKING the FLOW of traffic. |

I think it's time to start shutting down roads to cars in areas where there are lots of bikes. Talk about entitlement, wtf. I am advocating SHARING THE ROAD. Don't get so butthurt. Anonymous Coward User ID: 44931595 United States 09/19/2013 12:47 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Unfortunately they have the right-of-way, unless your state has specific laws barring cyclists from riding IN traffic, like the law that bars cyclists from riding on the expressways because bicycles aren't motorized vehicles (they're classified as non-motorized vehicles). For example, here are some Georgia laws for cyclists (I shared two (in-part) from the manual but there are much more listed in the manual: (a) Every person operating a bicycle upon a roadway shall ride as near to the right side of the roadway as practicable, except when turning left or avoiding hazards to safe cycling, when the lane is too narrow to share safely with a motor vehicle, when traveling at the same speed as traffic, or while exercising due care when passing a standing vehicle or one proceeding in the same direction; provided, however, that every person operating a bicycle away from the right side of the roadway shall exercise reasonable care and shall give due consideration to the other applicable rules of the road. And: (c) Whenever a usable path has been provided adjacent to a roadway and designated for the exclusive use of bicycle riders, then the appropriate governing authority may require that bicycle riders use such path and not use those sections of the roadway so specified by such local governing authority. The governing authority may be petitioned to remove restrictions upon demonstration that the path has become inadequate due to capacity, maintenance, or other causes. Check your state's cyclist laws because they might be different from Georgia's. |

They are a wheeled vehicle and are ENTITLED to as much road as they want. The bike lanes were put in to help - not segregate riders. There is no law requiring them to use them - but there are laws forbidding they use the sidewalks or go opposite traffic as was done decades ago. The MASS ACTION riders are making a statement that they do indeed pay taxes and are sick of cars sideswiping them and running them down. It is very dangerous to ride unprotected with cars whizzing by. PS - I bet you have high blood pressure PPS-Take a deep breath PPPS-Leave a couple minutes earlier |
SaltyFlats User ID: 46790668 United States 09/19/2013 12:52 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I ride a lot too. I've never been Honked at either. But I try to be really considerate. Also my honk was more like a "beep" not a "HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNK". What type of bike? I just upgraded my GIANT OCR to a Wilier Izoard XP.
