Re: TWO FUCKING DAYS...and iPhones fingerprint scensor HAS ALREADY BEEN HACKED
European hacker group has announced a simple, replicable method for spoofing Apple's TouchID fingerprint authentication system. "A fingerprint of the phone user, photographed from a glass surface, was enough to create a fake finger that could unlock an iPhone 5s secured with TouchID," claims the Chaos Computer Club, which demonstrated the hack in a video.
The technique is based on previous methods for spoofing fingerprint authentication systems, and needed only minor adaptation to be applied to the iPhone's unusually high-resolution scanner. According to the CCC:
First, the fingerprint of the enrolled user is photographed with 2400 dpi resolution. The resulting image is then cleaned up, inverted and laser printed with 1200 dpi onto transparent sheet with a thick toner setting. Finally, pink latex milk or white woodglue is smeared into the pattern created by the toner onto the transparent sheet. After it cures, the thin latex sheet is lifted from the sheet, breathed o

Call me when a real world scenario, like stealing or finding a users phone and not having the user cooperate in making a perfect photographable print comes up....

This right here shows the ignorance, this person probably went out and bought it because they feel it isnt a real world scenario, they found ANY excuse to brush this off so they could still buy it while telling themselves it will be ok.

This is after 2 days, imagine after a little more time, im sure easier methods will come along, there must be a way around it because what if you damage your finger print and cant access your phone?

Im waiting to hear all the excuses people come up with to make them selves feel better about buying this phone and ignore all the crap thats on it monitoring them. "They probably already have my finger prints anyways" will be a common one i suspect.

I hate the shills on this site recently. What is it like the same 5-10 people? Read on the specifications and get your head wrapped around the law.

Read every policy and every little warning that tags along with it's warranties. You think they want some debacle like the time people were so scared they were being tracked by enabling location services.

Someone will eventually be untangling the programming to see where the fingerprint scans go, Apple doesn't want some common citizen gaining what would be a Billion Dollar Lawsuit.

Those that don't understand how the system works, will blind themselves with lies and paranoia to seem a part of some click or party. You're just idiots.

If the scan of the persons fingerprint does not work to unlock the device, they are prompted with the ability to enter their PIN Code. For the sake of saving argument, Apple has no system in place to track iPhones or iPad's which get stolen.

Being tech support, we have every system available...and when we get the whole "I was told Apple can locate my device". We can't, per privacy policies set in place and every different law in every country (no system exists). Wise up guys. Don't let some other fool tip your hat in any direction. Read, Learn, Make your own decisions. I work for Apple...but own a samsung galaxy s4.

I'm thinking the owner of the finger would wise up when somebody starts taking hd photos of their fingers. You may as well just get the whole finger (ouch) and forget the camera.
Why not hack the phone and substitute another print?

There's an easier way. Grab the owners hand and forcibly press their finger onto the screen, and voila.

It will get discovered and Apple will pay the people out or if it goes to court you think an individual or team of individuals will win against Apple in court? especially a US court? Especially when Apple are co operating with the NSA/Authorities. It will go to court, and the people would be made an example of, like Snowden, then they will quickly say it was an error in the software and send out a fix, iOS7.1, or claim the hack wasnt real, something like that. They market their outdated products really well because so many are still buying them, so you know they are one of the best when it comes to manipulation.

Amazing reply, you have my respect. I have nothing against what you said. Since, I have no way of telling if they do/don't work with whomever. Even Google has followed suit and does admit to doing so.

Other companies might have their hand in the honey pot as well. However, I stand firm that I really don't think anyone should worry about fingerprints in a data base.

They have your blood, your information, your life...written in some archive somewhere already. Shit, this entire country is run on debt...at this time I don't think they much care for a few lousy prints.
