And, damn, what a sweat car. Never paid too much attention to the 442s, but now I am hooked, gotta get one.

Re: Just drove a 70 Olds 442 ragtop
I had a '70 W-30 442 I got in '84. Factory options included:
Galleon Gold paint with W-30 black stripe
455cubic inch 370 HP w-30 engine
aluminum intake
Ram Air
Hurst Dual Gate shifter tied to turbo 400 trans
3:73 gears with positraction
Buckets with console
Cool ass Red fender wells!
Rally wheels (both steering and ones with tires lol)

Was a sweet ride.
The big block w-30 had so much torque......burnouts were effortless- no brake torque needed!...I went thru alot of rear tires......

I sold it in '95 after I bought my first Buick GN. The turbo Buick V-6 was quite a bit quicker than the Olds......and I couldn't afford to keep them both.

I continued to mod the Buick to lower it's e.t. to a best of 11.66 @ 118 mph.

Never even had the heads off......just bigger turbo/injectors/intercooler. The GN's were easy to make really fast. Wish Buick would bring out a new one....I could see one with AWD and about 450 hp. that would be FUN!
