Truthserum (OP) User ID: 36146938 United States 09/22/2013 09:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | When I went to the doctor on Wed they were....But considering what happened Thursday I'm thinking the inflammation combined with all the walking I did was too much stress and tore one of them... I've only had an x-ray since but it will take an MRI to determine...I'm going to find out one way or the other tomorrow.... just frustrated right now....this sucks.! Quoting: A/C 44655041 easy fix-you get scoped-takes 1/2 hour under general in the or,they clean up the torn nasty bits and you are walking fine in about 2 weeks. Yeah..that's what I suspect.....I can't see how it could be the acl just because there have been no sports activities to have caused it and the way this all came about. You think it was just too much stress from in inflammation etc.? It sure wasn't a fun feeling, I can tell you that. FACTS Don't Give a DAMN about your FEELINGS! |

Getting it scoped is out patient and you will be in a thigh high brace for a few weeks, with crutches. If you can't go this route, just try to stay off of it as much as possible. Get a brace and keep it iced. If a tubular brace doesn't fit you well, then get an Ace bandage and wrap it the best you can - take ibuprofen too. Feel better soon! Ignorance is bliss until reality bites you in the ass. I take care of the dead...always. |

LOL.....I'm laughing because I watched some youtube videos on walking with crutches today...already have some. I thought...."piece of cake".... then I tried to actually do it! That is what's so funny........it wasn't pretty I already got an immobilization brace and have iced like crazy.... I just hate this but thanks for the sentiments.... Im a nurse, but don't do ortho, you stated your xray was clear, did you have an MRI? Not a doctor as I said... but it sounds like ligement damage or meniscus...think someone stated as much above. Rice. Rest ice compress elevate. Get to the doctor. And don't let those pain meds make you think you can do more then you can. If it hurt to bare weight or bend before you took them don't do it on them. Not until you've seen the doctor. Feel better. :) Last Edited by 3pic on 09/22/2013 09:25 PM |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 40165517 United States 09/22/2013 09:43 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You may be able to relieve some of the pain. My inclination is quad lateralis and itb. You can use a rolling pen or get "the stick" a facial tool and work the quad group and itb. Do you have any pain in the hip? This would indicate itb. The itb attaches below the lateral knee and crosses the hip turning into the tfl then gluteus Maximus. So work those areas as well. Even if it is maniscus the joint is inflamed and you can relieve the pressure by working these groups. If u can get to a licensed massage therapist you can get further relief. Good luck |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 21201441 United States 09/22/2013 10:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | If you can get some grape seed extract - that is the only thing that ever helped me - I had the exact same symptoms in many major joints from my systemic lupus - really bad pain, inflammation, fluid, swelling. The grape seed extract needs to be taken at 100mg per 100lbs of body weight, if possible. If you take it with other antioxidants, even better. It is a natural anti-inflammatory - so won't totally destroy your kidneys like what the doc gave you is doing to them, and it also repairs and removes free radicals in the system that cause disease, inflammation, damage, breakdown of the body. If you can get grape seed with resveratrol (also from grapes), you are 5x as good. I had my mom get it from Costco for the inflammation in her wrist (she's 64) when I saw her wearing wrist braces. She listened to me and in two days, no more braces, and I have not seen her with them since! I highly recommend it. I began using it when I didn't even know that I had lupus or that it was supposed to help with inflammatory conditions, lupus, joints - also supposed to help really reduce chance of cancers, and prevents/heals damage caused in the body by the high sugars in diabetics, such as vascular breakdown, poor circulation, poor healing, bleeding in the capillaries in the eye that makes them go blind, etc. Most disease and breakdown in the body is contributed to by free radicals and the damage they do - grape seed extract is the superman of antioxidants and scavenges these free radicals and rids your body of them. I used to sell it years ago before it became a product you could get on the shelves (early 90's) and we knew a lot about the wonders it was doing for people. You can find it a lot of places now, but look for quality, too. Also, if I ever have a knee go out, I always keep it well wrapped, night and day, and that makes a HUGE difference in how fast it recovers and how it feels. Make sure you have some good ace bandages on there until you are fixed up! Try Tommy Copper, too, that might be a good product for that purpose. Just Google it. Take care! Oh, p.s. - the other thing I have found that greatly helps the pain in joints and soft tissues anywhere is 100% pure emu oil - just rub it in - like magic it takes away pain, for me anyway. Not the blue gel stuff with emu in it - just the straight-up emu oil - and keep it in a cool place so it stays fresh. |
