You may be able to relieve some of the pain. My inclination is quad lateralis and itb. You can use a rolling pen or get "the stick" a facial tool and work the quad group and itb. Do you have any pain in the hip? This would indicate itb. The itb attaches below the lateral knee and crosses the hip turning into the tfl then gluteus Maximus. So work those areas as well. Even if it is maniscus the joint is inflamed and you can relieve the pressure by working these groups. If u can get to a licensed massage therapist you can get further relief. Good luck

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 40165517 The muscles are minimal for stabilization of the knee joint. They allow the 'work' and mobility aspects. Stabilization comes primarily from the ACL, LCL, MCL, and the PCL. Also, the quadriceps tendon and patella tendon incorporate the PFJ, Patellofemoral Joint. And what exactly is the quad lateralis? Do you mean the Vastus Lateralis?
