Other branches of the military have their own grooming and appearance rules. Quoting: Captain Clownshoes [link to www.stripes.com] Why does anyone go into the military anymore? So many rules to abide by, it takes the fun out of being a soldier. I know some people here are really anti-military...soldiers can have fun (such as getting tattoos on the forearm, or in the older national guard, drinking at the unit after hours) while serving honorably. Not wise to be so strict. |

It was really awesome...a bonding experience. By 2006 when I returned from training, drinking was banned from armories. So, so stupid. Then you have soldiers driving to the bars, not staying at the armory where they don't get in trouble. A change might have happened in the 90s, but things definitely tightened up when units began deploying in the 00s. |
