Why is culture (CULT-your) something to be respected?

Is it the matrix supporting itself when people say things like, "All cultures should be respected"?

I can't believe people would say that.

culture and cult, are not the same (though they come from the same latin word)

Cicero talked about "cultivation of the soul or mind" (latin origin) which later ment the civilization (geneal aspects of it)

Cult means to worship a new belief and has only religious meaning.
