Thinking many of us we're young back then, don't even remember it, old enough to remember if it was a big deal..But no doubt still remember the Carter years!!
And that wasn't a government shut down..

i was camping in a federal park and the park rangers
left the front gate open and told us to keep an eye
on the place. they left for a few days during the
shutdown.

it was a big deal to gov't employees and it was a super
raging big deal to the press. they acted like it was some
sort of state of emergency, even though the average person
was fine.

My husband worked in DC at the time, and it wasn't that big of a deal even there. Some people had to wait a little longer to get paid, but even then, they got paid for the time they were furloughed eventually. There was some short term, low level whining, but really, nothing for the history books. The blizzard that February caused way more problems than the shutdown from what I remember.

So we are looking at more of the same this time around i'd imagine. Sounds like typical fear mongering politics.

i wonder who will be theSavior to bring us out of it this time? I think it was gingrich last time....or did he orchestrate the shutdown? It was one or the other.
