I get that there is a reason for policy, but stupid policy should be identified and done away with. It irritates the shit out of me when people just follow some policy for no other reason than, "well, that's policy." Example: You've worked in your field of expertise for 25+ years. You know everything there is to know about it. But you can't move to a higher position or different dept. because the position requires a degree. Your experience counts for nothing. So what they are saying is, if you had a degree in this area back in the fucking 80s, pre-computer, never mind that it would be worthless today, you would be qualified for the position. If someone comes out of school today and the ink is still wet on their new degree, they take precedence over your 25+ years experience. This. is. retarded. But... hey, that's our policy. Morons. btw, this is not my own personal situation, but a friend of mine is going through this. |
