If a journalist picked it up, he or she would likely be working for either a conspiracy publication (low visibility) or be a young inexperienced journalist writing for a sensational and therefore low-research-intensive publication (low visibility). If a Phd-type showed interest in it, he or she would be making an argument against the entire collective knowledge of academia in fields such as archeology, history, and sociology. Only a crazy or borderline discredited Phd-type would take that risk, and it wouldn't pass the scrutiny of any major peer-review journal. Quite a good system we have set up for maintaining the status-quo, is it not :) It's practically self-censoring. |
