Radioactive landfill fire in St Louis - getting worse - fire cannot be put out
The problem I see with this is that as the underground fire gets closer it heats up the ground as that happens it dries out the trash ahead of it making it more combustible. radioactive waste should not be heated. Uranium burns easily. Explosion is a definite possibility.

A lot of historical info in these videos from Kay Drey in first video.

Part 1
Fire is causing sinking, and is moving closer to waste. The fire alone is dangerous due to the trash burning, plastic, treated items like wood or furniture. Republic Waste Co. announced "they" (Tepco wannabe) are going to dig a trench to try and stop the fire. 40 to 60 foot wide trench could make the emissions worse.
This is the oldest radioactive waste in the country and they don't know everything in it. They don't know what background readings is at the site.

Watched part 2 before 1 wanted to see the end. this shit is getting serious.

from part 2
Trying to build a trench to stop the fire approaching the radioactive waste. West Lake landfill is showing 5 times increase in Radium in groundwater. The radioactivity will increase until Thorium and Radium come into equilibrium which will take 9000 years.
Any idea what Radium does or is?
Wiki - Radium is three million times as radioactive as the same mass of uranium. Death is certain.

Re: Radioactive landfill fire in St Louis - getting worse - fire cannot be put out
Its currently emitting Benzene and other toxic gases just from the trash not the radioactive stew. what happens is the trash breaks down and begins to smolder and release gases. The fire heats up the trash around it as it moves it extracts the moisture content preparing it for burning so the fire keeps moving. The trash is usually very wet. Sometimes they can suffocate the fire by using the gases from the decomposition and closing off the dump by covering it.

Been watching this all year now. This is part of the waste left over from the manhattan project that never really was buried properly to begin with and as standards change it has just gotten worse.

ST. LOUIS Resident here, well a bit south of St. Louis, but close enough for this to effect myself.

I have tried to educate people on the this matter for quite a while now, bringing it up in conversations as just a topic to talk about. What amazes me is that not a single person that I have brought this up to even knows about it. I figured it was just the typical idiots who are more focused on their life and only their life. However, even those friends that typically fill me in on this sort of thing didn't even know.

I feel as if no one in St. Louis except a minority care or even know about this growing problem.

This reminds me of the Paducah Kentucky radioactive waste facility.
