Even if it is going to happen the world elites will pretend nothing has happened, they own the whole media, internet, police and judicial power, military forces and so on. They have an unlimited amount of real wealth and resources, you can't even imagine. They can kill, corrupt and imprison you totally getting away with it. The implications of an alien first contact are tremendous from the elites' perspective: the end of famines, energetic crisis, illness, suffering. They need those bad things to survive on our backs, like they always did. Either way, we are screwed. Aliens are not going to fight for our freedom.
