no "doom" I live in Oregon and have for 20 years and this happens right at the beginning of fall every year

not to say the power outages and trees falling down everywhere isn't a pain the ass

Yes, you are right. It is trees down over poles and mudslide season in the megalopolis that stretches from Portland OR north through Seattle to Vancouver BC.

It is really really wet and it looks like it might continue for a while.

PORTLAND – A strong storm front bringing high winds and heavy rain moved into the Portland area Sunday causing power outages and minor flooding.

Sunday's weather was a second big front to hit over the weekend and was similar to Saturday's downpour that brought record rainfall to the Willamette Valley and coast.

National Weather Service alerts

Thousands were still without power around the state as high winds and rain brought down trees and power lines. At one point, close to 20,000 people were without power in the Portland metro area as crews from PGE struggled to restore power.
