Caught on video: Range Rover runs over bikers in NYC, attempts to flee

Sorry no sympathy her for those bikers. What the idiot driver didn't do was lock up the range rover a when being followed at 80 mph and go sideways then watch em all slide across the asphalt.

Especially the key ones involved. The guy on the white motorcycle with jeans in the beginning who slammed on brakes in front of the RR is the one who started it. He needs to be in prison.

the NY daily article also said one of the bickers was pounding on the rear window where the baby was!

It really needs to be put into perspective what NYCers deal with in relation to this. If you arent aware what goes on there, aware yourselfs-

The video was posted by a biker, under the name GIXXARDR on Liveleaks, from Melbourne, Australia, this morning. He claims one biker was killed, which the police said was not true.

Get over it, there are more important things to worry about right now.

No rational person wants to kill people over a traffic violation. The above poster fantasizes death and murder. He-s sick. I am sure the RR driver is suffering PTSD, and has regret at what could have happened, realizing we operate like animals just under the surface. But it isnt his fault, he acted as anyone would have given the same circumstances...

NYC has now banned the riders' annual event.

Nobody died, BS thread title. Biker had a broken leg, driver of SUV was pulled from his vehicle and beaten, possibly cut with a knife.

I know what mob mentality is and how it degenerates an individuals rationale, but what is not being considered here is possibility that the driver of the Rover initiated aggressive interaction by way of negligence. There is a likelihood that the Rover couple exhibited disdain towards the reaction of the bikers after having endangered a biker through negligence, or otherwise. That's just it, we don't know.

Between us, I'm the one exhibiting a fair sense of justice here. It's easy to understand and sympathize with the Rover's position when the driver decided to 4wheel over the bikers. Fear and the safety of his family were at stake. Was that what he was thinking about whenever he didn't exercise caution and restraint leading up to the incident, or was he exhibiting a sense of entitlement?

But the critical point is that we do not know what led up to this whole event. We don't have that video footage.

I'm a biker as well and these guys were just reckless with no respect and pride for themselves or for anyone else on the road.

I get your drift and have said as much. Yes, it all went down as it should have. Strange that people feel compelled to take sides. Would someone take sides of an asteroid hitting the Earth?

trust me i got thorough there all of the time, im 90% sure its mta cops but still its hell of a lot better then facing 100 bikers on your own, this is the toll, he would be on the upper level of the bridge/toll

Well, if you understand mob mentality than you'll understand the implicit consensus we hold for many things we consider normal. When a mob acts counter to a society, it is in essence its own society, and people conform rather quickly to the new reality -- and have absolutely no feeling they are breaking the law,,,, in that moment of lawlessness, or temporary insanity. Anyway,,, too many people are discussing the rights and wrongs of this incident,,, when a more intelligent discussion would be human psychology in stress or in unique situations. I am sure police and criminologists understand that a case like this will most likely not result in conviction... or if it does, it would serve no beneficial purpose to society...

I ride to but let me see if I get this straight from a rider to a rider.

Do you ride recklessly ride along side cars in their lane and pull in front of them and slow down?

Do you think it is their fault if they can't slow a half ton vehicle as quick as a bike weighing a few hundred pounds that is right on the cars bumper?

Do you think it is his fault for not stopping in New York City where many thugs live that don't know the story of what happened but want to commence to giving a beat down?

Sorry, but these bikers are lucky this guy did not run down a few of them.

They have no respect or pride for themselves or anyone else on the road.

Looks to me like he got off the westside hwy and headed toward GW bridge ramps but got off at 178th St and was stuck in traffic before hitting Bdway.

He may have thought he had a better chance of seeing a sector car in the Heights then staying on hwy and having to pass Cloisters, Dyckman exit, and finally the tolls (which aren't always covered by the coppers in my experience). Once over the bridge he'd be in the Bronx and onto the Saw.

Um. Did any watch this on CNN just now? They *mixed it up a little.

Notice at :20 the biker pulls up beside door of Range Rover, actually in the Range Rovers lane, and the biker turns his head and looks into the range rovers window.

Probably trying to intimidate the driver.

The same biker then pulls ahead in front of the Ranger Rover and then slows down. He probably was trying to make the Range Rover bump his rear tire at which point he figured the Range Rover would slam on breaks, the biker would claim injury or damages and they would try and shake the Range Rover driver down.

Range Rover driver did stop and then paniced and rightfully so as other bikers started getting off bikes coming towards them.
