Just for fun I have installed 3 different sky stars watch apps on my iphone, one to find comet ison. Each of them pointed me to a different location in the sky so I dont think they are accurate at all.

Rumor has it that you are a dumb, German who can't use the app right. Just ask Astro and Sethy.

But don't kill yourself, because the rest of us think you are a smart, independent thinker who is just sharing some "odd" incident that many others are also experiencing.
 Quoting: 3rdEyeE

wut? I cant see shit in the sky other than the sun and moon and one fucking bright star that has always been there. I just wanted to see where comet ison is hiding right now so I got the apps and they all pointed me somewhere else where ison is supposed to be.

meh, living in chem-trail soup here on the Eastern Slope (of the Rockies ... imagine a yellow shade of grey ... for the entire day ... don't think it got to forty ... you could feel it sucking the moisture out of everything ... freeze drying everything over night ... it actually rained yesterday - so this "cloud" is sticking around to soak it all up ... three more daze till we get Sunny again ... and it warms back up for the last two weeks of this month ...

1st picture for review and analysis. Stick to what objects/things you see. What they are. Feel free to zoom or ask any questions about the picture. Don't be afraid to say I don't see anything, or all I see is the moon...but be careful, because upcoming pics may make you look like a shill, troll or dumb-ass.

Before we start the slide-show....Does anyone have any "lens flare" photographs that look like any of the "known planets", pluto, or the "winged planet"? If so, please share your flares.

What's wrong? Did you see something? Did you not see anything? Cute pic, but intelligent minds can't read your mind. Still an "anonymous coward"? Well just for you, next pic coming up...It's a progressive game, let me know when you can see "something" and then tell us what it is.

Calling all expert "lens flare" photographers....The first picture is an ILLUSTRATION, it is not mine and not a photograph. I am posting it to set a standard that we will use later.

No commentary needed: I need anyone and everyone to produce/post any "lens flare" photographs that match, resemble, the illustrated picture here. I will then take the aforementioned dump (can send Sethy a PROOF PIC if necessary). After I get lil' 3rd Eye E to bed, I will post my 1st picture. But let's get those lens flare pics out in the open in the interim.

Yes it "looks like" an illustration.

Saw the blue sky as well.

What about your "object"?

Next picture for New Zealand Coward...1st photo anomaly detected.

1) View the pic from the link
2) Zoom in above the goalposts
3) Now save the pic and view with a real viewer
4) Now zoom in above the goalposts with the real viewer
5) Report the difference between what you see with a BS free image share site like imageshack (there is a reason it is free) and a real image viewer.

Lastly, tell us what the object over the goalposts is.

More pics to come, and yes they get better. I am using a progressive approach for a reason.

Meanwhile, can we get some pics of "seemingly" constant contrails (inlcude the horizon for reference sake's) AND can we get some Venus shots from the ground w/horizon. After all, we are going to need something to compare images with.

1) Is the illustration of "contrails", "chemtrails", "lens flare", venus, "winged planet"?

2) Blue sky picture--Can you see any "contrails", "chemtrails", "lens flares", or planets?

Hmmm, let's take a pause for the cause, and let some other folks catch up. In the meantime, what do you mean by a "light source"? Very curious choice of words. What is the difference between a light source and an object in the sky that is emitting light/energy? Also, any thoughts on why this "thing" was clearly visible to me, but barely picked up on camera? Anymore accusations of "pictures aren't coming, to no surprise" coming? Lastly, would a "dark" or "dwarf" planet photograph differently than other planets, celestial objects? Is the moon "dark"? When did you last communicate with Astro, only 10 on the east coast, he in bed?

 Quoting: 3rdEyeE

Probably not the best choice of terms, but an object that emits light has its own source of light energy. Technically a "light source" can be from from reflected light. The moon for example.

Yes, that is not uncommon. You have stadium lights shinning right into the camera optics which will adversely affect the camera's ability to resolve that possible light source. Additionally, the camera is focused on objects closer to you and not on an object in the sky.

Also, have you ever heard of the "winged planet" that as many as 6 civilizations have described/depicted? Lastly are you able to do a Google Image search on the term "winged planet"?

Where is the object....Ummmm, you said you saw it above the goalposts. But don't fret, I gotta whole lotta more of where those came from. And they only get better. What you got for me on that winged planet? I am doing the un-thinkable, I am telling you that I theorize/believe that the 1983 article was about the "winged planet", the picture shown and the upcoming pictures are of the "winged planet"...what are you offering to the thread?

Hey astromut. Why would a brighter than normal star go and disappear? It's not venus! I see it one minute then it's gone. It has been happening for a few weeks now. Then only camera I have is a dslr that ain't gonna catch it. I am sure my iphone 5s ain't gonna do it either.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 45555308

I saw it on sunday, 13th. Definetely was brighter than Venus but disappeared in a few seconds.
I'm in southeast Brazil.

bump
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 48404969

In a few seconds? Sounds like an Iridium flare. Possibly a glint of sun off a distant plane that wasn't leaving a visible contrail as well. I've seen that happen too.
 Quoting: Dr. Astro

No it was not a plane. The sun had already set to the point it would not be a plane. Plus it was not moving. I have seen this 3 times. A brighter than normal star or should say it gets brighter then starts dimming out. Based on my location it appears to be south south-west in location. It's not venus. The other 2 times I remember seeing it venus was no where near that location. It is stationary when I am seeing it. I watch it from where I can tell if it is moving. It is always at night that I see this.

Worked at Wolf Camera in college, but couldn't even tell me if the illustration most resembled

a) contrails
b) chemtrails
c) Venus
d) a google image for "winged planet"

NOBODY said they are an expert on the winged planet, but to not be able to make a relative comparison to a, b, or c is ignorant or disingenuous IMHO. Think of it as an i.q. test for say a 4 year old..."match the illustration to one of the choices above"

Who knows, maybe it's like the time when Google Sky wasn't working and CROPPED out a perfect rectangle (with 4 90 degree angles) of some INTERESTING coordinates. What you know about that, Sethy? My theory is, the CROP out was to remove "the object of this thread", but of course you can PROVE me wrong, right? Can't you? Maybe Astro asked Morrison at an ISONerd conference. Maybe, right?

No, your buddies called him dumb, but you are lying right now...His reports does not CONFIRM that he is misusing the app. His report is the app is malfunctioning. Can you prove that the app is NOT malfunctioning? Only in shill world does "App isn't accurate" = "I don't know how to use my app"

This actually demonstrates what several of us have said. If he has three sky apps and none of them agree, then it shows that people are indeed having difficulty using them for whatever reason. So if someone says that they pointed said app at said object and it didn't show up as Venus, then that doesn't necessarily mean it wasn't Venus.

This isn't that hard to understand.
