There REALLY IS something strange in western sky around sunset...!!!

A star called Arcturus 0.2 is in that position and sets at 9:45pm what think? anyone else want to check it out ? google or something ? I seen it in Kstars linux program.
Does it get higher or lower as time passes? (is it going up or down?)

Are u saying what is suppose to b venus is not venus, or are you saying you see venus and you also see this other thing op is describing???

I believe there is something there...venus is huge at about 10 on the dial looking west...

Op is seeing something lower closer too the son..

Rockies to the west here in Colorado dunno if will see but sun has set.

At about 45 degree angle I see Venus here in colo. No other stars visible yet.

If this object is closer to horizon it is blocked by Rockies here.

Literally right now there is only one bright object in all of the sky. It's definitely bright but I think it's Venus can someone confirm?

Does it matter what kind 0f binoculars they are? My buddy at work says I need left handed binoculars, since we're in the west. Does that sound right to you?

we are all seeing something particular that is not:
Venus
Mercury
Saturn
Mars
Arcturus
Spica
Regulus
Etc.

For basically two reasons: we have clearly observed this(with magnification) and it simply looks like a comet, small object with tail/plume/discharge, etc. eminating from it. We all know what a comet looks like...

For the other possibilities we have reductive reasoning:
Venus is unmistakable/identifiable! Higher, hangs later, white not red, no coma!
Mercury is basically unobservable, certainly not as high as this
Same with saturn, and hella far away too ya know, so even with binocs its just a spec, no rings, just a dot
Mars is in the east, rises after midnight
Arcturus is looking crazy but no plume or whatever you want to call it, can be id'd later, is quite high actually, 40ish degrees(?)
Same for the rest of the stars, no where near as bright for them too..

So you have a few sources of original images now(awesome!) and many accounts by every day folks who noticed something unusual. Upon further investigation(other possibilities nulled/accounted for) and most importantly with magnification what we agree looks well like a comet.

There is no such "officially" recognized object/"comet" that WE SWEAR TO HAVE SEEN...

There are some very serious potential implications if this is so.
And here we are...

I don't think southern California here will have sunset horizon clear till the weekend - will have to wait

I honestly don't know wtf it is just sharing my opinion on a peculiar observation I had.

I should clarify that it does look very odd with naked eye. That.s what made me RUN to get binocs.

It is very hard to really tell what you are seeing just by looking @ it tho(without binocs/tele)
BUT it is larger then venus(and therefore brighter u could say)
And NO-THING is "supposed" to be in the sky RIGHT NOW @ LEAST like that.

Numerous have mentioned it but Ijust now realized it, that it is out way early, BEFORE venus, which is supposed to be the first thing you can see once it gets dark enough.
