The idea it is a contrail is so stupid as to defy logic. By "same" it is meant same position in the sky in geographically and atmospherically varied locations. The concept that people in Maine, Montana, Oregon and Texas could all be seeing different planes that appear to be in the same position in the sky and appearing basically the same is a ridiculous proposition.

Do they simply fade as the sun sets?The pics of the very short contrails are Jets facing towards or away from you. They will last until the Jet is out of view or the sun has set and no longer illuminate the trail We have a good point here to observe and keep in mind. Do contrails simply fade out and disappear, simply because the sun no longer illuminates them?
