WW2 vets to be arrested today at WW2 memorial

So...for a place that has no cost (if only a trash man) now has a cost of renting barriers, placing barriers, paying mounted police (including feed for horses) to harass veterans whom the monument honors.

In other words, during a financial shutdown, they are SPENDING MONEY to stop people from viewing a monument. All they had to do was hire one person to charge $2 a person to view the memorial with the excuse of the government shutdown. Veterans would get in for free. Then they would be making a PROFIT off a place that normally has no cost or profit.

This is just vindictive behavior.

You can go there at night, even at midnight, and there are no barriers. No people, nothing.

Its actually pretty nice to visit the mall in the middle of the night.

I hope the vets are smart enough to obey the law and keep their distance, or else there are going to be some old geezers with broken hips or riding the lightning (from a taser)!

DC Cops and Park Police don't mess around, and the law applies to EVERYONE, even WW2 veterans. They can still view the memorial , but can't go past the barricades (this is for their own safety).

Do you think it's safe to have these old geezers walking around a memorial that has no staff on hand because of the govt shutdown ?

What if one of them trips and breaks his hip, then tries to sue the govt ?
