For fucks sake...THE DAMN PLACE IS CLOSED!
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 47754872 So...for a place that has no cost (if only a trash man) now has a cost of renting barriers, placing barriers, paying mounted police (including feed for horses) to harass veterans whom the monument honors. In other words, during a financial shutdown, they are SPENDING MONEY to stop people from viewing a monument. All they had to do was hire one person to charge $2 a person to view the memorial with the excuse of the government shutdown. Veterans would get in for free. Then they would be making a PROFIT off a place that normally has no cost or profit. This is just vindictive behavior. so, DC is spending money for the barriers and cops that were never there before for a monument that's normally opened 24/7 ? Aren't they breaking a law that was written long long time ago about spending money while being shut down? There was a thread on that law yesterday.
