OP you want a real addiction that costs you no money at all. Learn a martial art, do Kata and repeat the process until the only thing on your mind is the kata and from there you will begin a journey away from gambling which you will not return.

I use to be addicted to the slot machines when I was younger. Best thing to do is go cold turkey, don't even have a little bet. Find a different way to get a high. You could try jogging and calisthenics. Put your focus in to getting fit. If you are working full-time and have hobbies you want have much time to gamble.Play some video games they pass the time are addictive but won't lose you any money.

fuck money. To go "Youtube" bang in "shotokan-ryu" kata and spend the next 10 years doing them (there are several to keep you busy). Pay close attention to every detail every single movement the teacher does and try to replicate it identically

the fucked thing is iv gotten way into online gambling also the last few years and i can lose close to a $1000 within minutes of it going into my bank account because of this online casinos and time after time i uninstall and try to forget about the bastards but then an email or advertisement or something will suck me right in again.. if only i had like a chastity belt which prevents me from even gambling a single dollar that way i wouldnt be so fucked up because of it^

Unfortunately this addiction is worse then any substance abuse. Ignorant people don't understand the stronghold it has on a person, so they say, "just don't go". Doesn't work that way. There are no good programs that help these people either. GA is a joke and ineffective.

Gamblers have to usually deal with the underlying issues. They gamble as a result sometimes of other issues in their life. They also usually have substance addictions too. Even if its just smoking, drinking, etc. they usually have addictive personalities which make it worse.

You need a support. Someone you can trust first, who doesn't judge you, that can help you get through healing. The best case scenario is someone you trust with your money. If you can build up some money reserve by having someone else manage it, you will start to remember how good it feels to be functioning again. First and foremost, CUT YOUR LOSSES!!!!! Then, on those times you are more likely to sneak off to the casino, you have to commit strongly to trust your support, call them and discuss the urge. You can start healing. It's not easy. But you can get better. Identify your patterns of when you're most likely to go, and protect against those weaknesses. You are not alone! You have to reach out to others that understand.
