arguing with this guy over obama care , questions
this is why he says

Yes, because you don't like the fact that your money is being used for others health. Their argument is that why should I pay for other's healthcare?

They don't look at the whole picture that what would happen if you lost your job or ended up broke. Should the healthcare department tell you to fuck off? get lost and die alone and say it ain't my problem? Or do you help that person?

Most against Obamacare don't want to help others but themselves. they're against it because their money will mostly go towards others healthcare. Yet, if these same people go broke and need healthcare assistance. They then would be for obamacare because others would pay their healthcare.

They don't look at this system as a safety net for anyone that ends up losing their jobs or involvements where they still can get the best healthcare weather they can afford it or not. It's a social system to support the nation in healthcare.

is this true? im pretty sure its not right?

The people "you are supporting" will still be responsible for 5k-15k deductibles before their insurance ever touches anything.

It's not "the best healthcare". You get mediocre healthcare at exorbitant costs. You pay 300+ per month for a family and say an avg of 7.5k a year deductible (not certain if this is per person or per policy, but most insurance policies are written as per person). Unless you, or they, have something extreme happen...it will NEVER pay for itself.

Depends on if your state accepted the Medicaid expansion or not. If they did, yes, if they didn't, no.

Also, I assume you meant health insurance not healthcare.

Well, I have two thoughts on this. One, this is a pretty typical conversation about this. They are coming from a place of emotion and compassion with their argument, where you are trying to present an argument that is logical, and based in knowledge and data. So right there, you're never going to win in their eyes.

Two, maybe running through the actual details (or not, see above) might be a good idea. Most people defending this do not have much actual understanding about the details behind this program. They know that it feels "right" to provide healthcare for everyone, and that's what the media has told them this is, so they don't want to know any further details.

This is the prime point where the argument always comes though. If you say you are against it, they automatically assume that means you are against providing universal healthcare. There is a HUGE difference. I support the idea of universal healthcare 100%, but I do NOT support "Obamacare" at all. To anyone who has bothered to research the facts, it is obvious this is yet another money and power grab and nothing else. This is not free health insurance, it is enforced insurance purchasing.

So hang in there - and just remember, these arguments you have now will be funny in an year or so when the person you are arguing with is bitching about how awful it all is, and how they never supported it. You know different!

The problem with that argument is that this entire system of wage enslavement is unnatural. Any other species will do anything it takes to survive. Self-preservation is more important than anything else. Animals don't voluntarily starve themselves or stand in line waiting for handouts (unless they're in a zoo) just because they're unemployed (and they don't have jobs working for others in the first place). Sorry, but you've all been had. The wild west and the homesteaders had it right. You find a place to live, and you live. You take care of yourself and your family, and do what it takes to protect yourself and your family. Nothing else matters.

We have private fund-raisers for people who are extremely-ill. If we weren't swamped with more and more taxes, we would have more money to donate. Unfortunately, we will never know if this is true because we are taxed until we die.
