And the elderly have knowledge younger generations weren't exposed to in life. I'm certainly glad I have always respected my elders, and since I listened enthusiastically (even as young as 8 or 9) to all their stories, I learned a lot of things I wouldn't have otherwise.

Get to know your elderly neighbors and family, if you haven't already, folks. It's good for all, all around. Some get very little or no attention (they deserve) and usually are very grateful when someone listens to them. And let them know they are doing you a favor, not the other way around. It's nice for them to feel needed and heard, and have social contact.
