I got an amber alert on my phone in Miami yesterday, so the service is still operating even if the web site is not.

Yep...just google "Amber alert shut down."

Now I'm not sure of this, and I'm to lazy to so some research. But here in Washington state when aa Amber Alert is activated, the EAS comes on TV and then you hear a live person explain things like the child's name and vehicle description. I'm getting at, is the nations Emergency Alert System not staffed?

So they can operate the service but not the website. Typical of their games.

The .gov website is not, apparently.

Yes, I went to the EAS site, it says "elecommunications companies must continue to use the NORS". But really, can anyone in recent memory remember a time when the EAS came on TV when we really needed it?
