Urgent warning from a Naval Intelligence Officer in regard to an impending comet strike and a possible tsunami affecting the eastern seaboard
|
Office of Naval Intelligence User ID: 95530 5/19/2006 8:35 PM Report abusive post | Urgent warning from a Naval Intelligence Officer in regard to an impending comet strike and a possible tsunami affecting the eastern seaboard
| Quote |
The United States government has singularly failed in its duty of care toward American citizens by not making sufficient provision for an Atlantic tsunami in the wake of a comet strike expected next week.
Until very recently, I was a Naval Intelligence officer attached to the Office Naval Intelligence, formerly stationed in San Diego following my discharge from the ONI-2 Directorate of Intelligence. Last week I was assigned to prepare for the assumption of new duties in regard to the ONI-6 Collections Directorate, but a dispute concerning the suppression of important information that should have been made available to the American people ended with my suspension from active duty until further notice. At this time of writing, I am staying with relatives in a European country.
I shall make this brief, if only because I do not wish to engage in any protracted exchanges with civilians on a public bulletin board.
As you probably know, US government agencies recently participated in an exercise known as Pacific Wave ’06, which was run under the auspices of UNESCO. Next week sees another drill, Pacific Peril 06, designed to gauge the resilience of the transportation infrastructure along the west coast of the United States.
Both of these exercises are informed by one imperative, and one imperative only: post-facto damage limitation in the wake of an expected strike by a detachment of Fragment-C of Comet 73P (Schwassmann-Wachmann-3). Our government has been briefed on a daily basis about the probabilities relating to such a strike, yet when it became more than apparent that such an impact would almost certainly take place between May 24 and May 27, the administration countered suggestions for a public notice of immediate preparations with the imposition of a media blackout. Naval Intelligence personnel have also been forbidden to discuss this matter even with members of their own families.
I do not wish to cause undue alarm, but it is my moral duty as an upholder of the oaths I have taken to warn my fellow Americans, particularly those who live along the eastern seaboard, that the risk of a major tsunami is extremely high and that their lives are consequently in great danger.
I urge each and every one of you to make any preparations you feel are necessary to survival and to inform any relatives or friends you may consider endangered by the impending catastrophe.
I shall say no more.
God bless America. |

Maybe our prayers have been answered. |

So, a three day window is not consistent with a known impact location. My vote would be BS. |

Better luck next time.
and always will be "I've had two teenagers who were considering killing themselves, because they didn't want to
be around when the world ends. Two women in the last two weeks said they were contemplating
killing their children and themselves so they wouldn't have to suffer through the end of the world."

I find the most interesting thing about this thread to be the fact that people are easily prepared to believe that the government would withold information regarding impending doom. Even information that could save millions of lives.
It's clear that people have a low opinion of the government.

Anonymous Coward User ID: 2168 5/19/2006 9:01 PM | | Re: Urgent warning from a Naval Intelligence Officer in regard to an impending comet strike and a possible tsunami affecting the eastern seaboard | Quote | Curious.
Reflecting on past doom threads it seems
to me that an innordinate amount of the
prophesied doom is focused on the USA
and/or the immediate area.
This is a BIG world. Why won't some of these chunks of space crap crash into
some other country? China and India are
both larger geographically and have
much higher population figures. they
could, quite frankly do for a bit of culling.
I'll tell you why. No one cares about them. Nor about Africa, or the Balkans
or most of northern Europe either for that matter.
So when I read doom threads that only
portend the apocalypse exclusively for the USA I know automatically that it
is only a piece of fiction intended to
drum up attention for the OP from those
he/she knows to be the majority of their
audience.
Hopefully everyone else knows it is all
just sport. |

I never claimed to be impressive, just RIGHT.
By the way, do you even KNOW what UNESCO does, and how it's NOT relevant or appropriate to the original post??
I didn't think so. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 59884 5/19/2006 9:04 PM | | Re: Urgent warning from a Naval Intelligence Officer in regard to an impending comet strike and a possible tsunami affecting the eastern seaboard | Quote | I was just questioning this particular post since if you don't know the date, you don't know the location.
I fully believe that if the government knew of an impending impact, they wouldn't say anything. At this point, the idea that the government cares about the people they are governing is a little bit ridiculous to anyone who has been following along. They care about lining their pockets via corporate cronyism and amassing more power. That's all they care about. The people are just a nagging problem to be dealt with like the sheep they are. |

D'oh, N.O.S. the op stated this part:
>>Our government has been briefed on a daily basis about the PROBABILITIES relating to such a strike, yet when it became more than apparent that such an impact would almost certainly take place between May 24 and May 27<<
The key word is PROBABILITIES. |

bamabigfoot User ID: 87405 5/19/2006 9:05 PM | | Re: Urgent warning from a Naval Intelligence Officer in regard to an impending comet strike and a possible tsunami affecting the eastern seaboard | Quote | It is correct that time and location go together, in fact the thing is moving fast enough that the time of impact might be known with more precision than the place. It did occur to me however that if I was putting my ships to sea to save them I would do so early, and NOT give the officers complete knowledge of the time of impact (until later)... Reason: I would not want a leak (like this) to give my enemies knowledge of the best time to strike us when we were weakest...maybe the 3 day window was all he was given for security purposes, otherwise it WOULD be total BS. |

Thanks OP. If not for you I wouldn't be prepared.
Tomorrow I am faxing in my resignation to my boss and am packing up the family and "heading out". The dog and cats just can't go with us, no room, but I since I know they don't have long to live I know I don't have to make any preparations for their survival. They'll be OK alone with no more food and water for their final few days.
I know the kids will miss the remainder of school, and our 12th grader won't graduate as a result, but hey, their lives are more important than sticking around for some school classes that won't be occuring anyway.
We have a few hundred dollars that I can get my hands on. That should be enough to get us to Iowa or maybe Nebraska before the money runs out, but after the stike money won't matter anyway, so who cares if we are in some town in Iowa with no gas, food, or money? Those good Iowonians will be happy to take care of us!!
YEP ... thanks for this secret information. If not for you we would have been dead meat in about a week!!
