True. Dictionary.com has an entry for "irregardless", although it may not be in the Oxford English just yet.

I had a manager who used this word.
One day she was shooting down an idea I had
and said irregardless, and I stopped her and
corrected her..... that ended that conversation.
In the end.... no one gets out alive.

I haven't even heard all of those on the list... but none of them bother me to be honest.

My friend told me that it drives her crazy when I say "Needless to say" lol21 So I go out of my way not to say it around her.

I honestly can't think off the top of my head of a specific word that bothers me... perhaps that will change after I go through this thread.

Grammar is a lost art.

Pet peeves:
anything "Ebonics" or "text speak/type"
Saying I could care less when really it's I COULDN'T care less.
Chimley (chimney)
"Black blue jeans" no they are just "black jeans"
Also the over use of a "big" word in little conversations. Like I know someone that says "cognizant" constantly. I feel like screaming is that the ONLY big word you know?

My least favorite word: Moist

Re: 11 Commonly Used Made-Up Words That Drive Us Insane
When it comes to words, people have all sorts of pet peeves.

There are the common mispronunciations that drive people crazy. (When you say "escape" it is "es-cape" and not "ex-cape.") There also are the language errors -- like confusing "affect" and "effect" -- that put people over the edge. "It makes me nuts when someone says they're going to 'speak to' something when they mean they're going to 'speak about' something," said Huff/Post50 Facebook fan Pam Blodgett.

But probably worse than all that are the words people say every day that aren't really, well, words. There are some words we wouldn't mind seeing added to the dictionary -- like "hushpicious," which describes the suspicion one feels when the house becomes eerily quiet while young children are at home and not sleeping. But there are some we don't want to see or hear anywhere.

Re: 11 Commonly Used Made-Up Words That Drive Us Insane
The rampant misuse of the word loose in place of lose drives me insane.

Also, when people say realitor instead of realtor. They are selling you REALTY, not REALITY you tard.

The word often with the T spoken.

The phrase vis-à-vis.

Every time some hood rat uses the made up word aks instead of ASK, I want to stab them in the throat with a screwdriver.

I once saw a group of inmates on the side of the road picking up trash and the word "trustee" was on the back of the shirt. The correct word is "trusty".
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 3738618

trust - ee

noun

1. an individual person or member of a board given control or powers of administration of property in trust with a legal obligation to administer it solely for the purposes specified.

synonyms: administrator, agent; custodian, keeper, steward, depositary; executor, executrix; board member; fiduciary

Also hate signage, I first started hearing this word about 12 years ago, not a word (it probably is now). Verbage/vergiage was being used a lot too, but not the right meaning. It means wordy, not "the wordage on the signage".

I do like McJob, when it fits.

I have many that drive me nuts, but the worst of them would have to be, as one poster stated above, the rampant misuse of "loose" and "lose".

That, and "prolly" instead of the correct "probably". Whenever I see someone use the word prolly, I just want to punch them right in the fucking neck.
Wouldn't it be great to heal the world, with only a song?
