One way out there thing I read was about the same question as this thread. It read that there was been many advanced civilizations on this planet, with reptilebased beings being one of the earlier ones, and way before the rise and fall of Atlantis. It said that many of the civilizations on this planet advances technologically and eventually destroyed themselves through wars, and something about using such tech to breaking cosmic laws in proces. Particularly about the dinosaurs, it said they were the remnants of that civilzation that did not make it off the planet, and were mutated into giant and wild creatures. Kinda like a de-evolution planetwide. Just one of those kind of things I read.
