In other words, the dollar is officially dead but we're the last ones to know about it
 Quoting: in5d

I think the dollar has a finite amount of time before it is replaced / retired / collapses (is intentionally collapsed).

I'm not a financial adviser or anything of that sort, however I'd say that the same focus and rules apply to all of us at this moment in world events:

Translate as much of your cash into months if not years of food, water, medical supplies, communications equipment and the means / location to protect all of these things (plus you, your family or group etc)...and with what's left, acquire whatever gold / silver you can.

You can't beat having food, water, options, independence and freedom (and, ideally, a degree of isolation or a rural location - from which to weather the storm out).

Sorry for rambling-on.

In direct response to being the last ones to know, I think the intent was not to tell, or warn you, at all.

You know how major events have a habit of just happening out of the blue. Not.

I don't have much money, and never have really. I don't "love" money like so many people in America do these days. I don't have much property and what I have is not worth much either. Its just stuff anyway. Storing up all the supplies in the world, or "prepping", cannot and will not "save" you, if you catch my drift. If you think that life on this earth is all there is to LIFE, you're very mistaken.

Most of my business is international and I do international wire transfers several times a month. I'm going to have to look into this tomorrow. We bank with BofA. I'll report back my findings.

At first glance I'd have to say this is a hoax. Too many businesses rely on international transfers daily.

I wholly agree with you. It's not enough to prep, really, however being somewhere safe(r) with food and water seems preferable to not having them.

There's much more to getting through what's coming than simply storing.

People need people with skills and trust.

It may sound corny, but first on the list comes spiritual preparedness - whatever that may mean. As has been noted countless times, if you subject different people to the same hardship, the folks with good spirit / good spiritual preparedness are almost always the people which make it.

In short, I agree with all that you said.

It's not a hoax. Whether or not your particular bank has the same or a similar intent (and whatever date they may decide-on to apply their own rules, if any) is what may or may not be the difference.

Obviously I hope that people like yourself are not adversely affected and there's some sense to it all.

In the event of a financial crisis, some form of capital control (as per Greece) seems to be one of the normal methods that the people in power use.

Perhaps this move is somehow connected to a gov directive? I don't know.

The letters that are being sent out are real enough.

I hope good fortune is with you.

It also states business savings accounts may not send domestic wire transfers as well as international . That sounds unheard of in terms of regular business banking practices. This is incredibly serious if true and will change the paradigm of international commerce indefinitely. Scary.....

This is pretty standard for a currency crisis, ICaland and Argentina, Greece etc have or have had currency controls in place.

I'm actually surprised that they are going to not rais the ceiling on the 17th I thought this was all show and OBama would save the day and it would be the big show in a couple of months with someone else to blame.

This will be like Hitlers Reichestag, Obama will blame the Tea party, republican and congress, he will increase his use of executive orders and do what he want with FEMA / DHS as the world starts to burn, It's going to be an interesting show.

Your cash activity limit for these amounts will be **K USD per statement cycle, per account.

Cash activity is the combined total of cash deposits made at branches, night drops and ATMs and cash withdrawals made at any branches including purchases of money orders and ATMS.

I like that proviso. Sounds like a bank all right...

So no wires from a SAVINGS account. Big deal.. not.

What business wires money from a savings account. I see nothing about all this that would affect businesses. They may be thieving bastards but they are not stupid thieving bastards. Stopping normal international wires would be a sure way to bring a total collapse.

Anyway anyone who wants to take large sums of money out of the states is not going to wire it anyway unless they are stupid.

Just buy gold coins in dollar denominated amounts. When you leave if anyone asks you have the face value of the coins in your possession. Does not matter the actual value, its face value is what you have to declare. I know a guy who left the country with $250K in his pocket, and did it multiple times with no problem.

Good luck with that, plenty of U.S. businesses do legitimate International business. What are they going to do, shut down any transfers with a SWIFT code?

You shut down International banking, you shut down free trade. That will be the "stick a fork in it moment". I really hope this is not true.

O.K.

I can verify this..

I just opened a letter from one of my banks and the wording is a bit more sneaky but it says the same thing...

Here is what mine says..

They are making me jump through some hoops to get the actual info..

"The remittance transfers section of the Personal Services Agreement has been updated to reference special provisions of the Regulation E, a federal regulation issued by the U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which govern certain outgoing electronic international transaction initiated by consumers that are defined as "remittance transfers." These transaction include wire transfers of funds from your account with us to third parties who are located or whose accounts are located in foreign countries. To review the entire Personal Services Agreement visit our accounts documents page located at:"

This is for real people..

They are locking down the flow of money out of the country and limiting cash withdrawal amounts..

And when they do, they'll use some confusing wording so most people don't even understand... until push comes to shove and the implications of this are undeniable and start having a broader affect.
