I totally understand your bank needing a few days to amass all that cash for you, if it is cash you were looking for. There are reasons to panic, but this is not one of them, this is just standard bank practice. |

They owe it to you, but it is their money. Last Edited by Face Palmer on 10/16/2013 12:53 PM "The world will soon wake up to the reality that everyone is broke and can collect nothing from the bankrupt, who are owed unlimited amounts by the insolvent, who are attempting to make late payments on a bank holiday in the wrong country, with an unacceptable currency, against defaulted collateral, of which nobody is sure who holds title." It is pretty vucking sad that we are back to the 30's, stuffing mattresses and tea pots with dollar bills, level of confidence. This all so much worse than the 30's. They did not have Monsanto then. But OP, no, banks don't just let you take out $27,000 in cash in one go. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 46990718 United States 10/16/2013 01:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yes, of course it is correct that banks don't have hundreds of thousand of actual cash dollars just waiting in the vault . . . But it does make me wonder what would happen in the event of a real (or perceived real) financial panic like what happened after the crash of 1929 in the U.S. The difference between then and now, I think is that back then, I think most people had faith that the government was there for them and not just the big banking interests and big business, so there was relatively little actual violence as a result of people being denied cash on demand. I just wonder what would happen the debt crisis isn't resolved, and 10% of the adult population went to their banks tomorrow, demanded all or most of the cash in their accounts, and were denied. MAJOR panic, riots, shooting??? Any thoughts on this? |
