Even in australia for more than 10k you have to phone the bank ahead of time and organise it.

There was nothing "denied" about it retard.

The reason they don't like you having cash is because they have to buy it from whoever prints it at face value, therefore they make it as difficult as possible to get real money.

The con of lending you, your own labour through digital debt created as balance sheet IOU entries wouldn't work with real cash.

BS.... most local branches only have limited cash. If you want to withdraw a large sum you must go to a main branch

Fuck Chase, they don't have any cash on hand, they don't have anything really, other than credit.

Even USBank lets me shuffle over 40 grand of cash without issues. Didn't have to wait at all.

why is your money in a bank account?

Go to the airport and go to the cash exchange cage...you can do it there. I regularly get thousands of dollars.

Even if your main bank or branch had that much cash on hand, they are not going to hand all of it over to one person, what about all the other customers that day who might want a few hundred dollars each in cash. I totally understand your bank needing a few days to amass all that cash for you, if it is cash you were looking for. There are reasons to panic, but this is not one of them, this is just standard bank practice.

Well it used to get interest, interest from my cd's a few years ago would pay for my cable bill and car insurance for the year easily, now with the same amount doesn't even cover my cable bill.

Same thing happened to me, but I was able to get 2500. I was trying to get a bit less the 30. It took them 14 days to get my money to me.

They also have to fill out a special form and report you to the IRS for any withdrawal/transfer/deposit over $9,999.

Yes, of course it is correct that banks don't have hundreds of thousand of actual cash dollars just waiting in the vault . . .

But it does make me wonder what would happen in the event of a real (or perceived real) financial panic like what happened after the crash of 1929 in the U.S.

The difference between then and now, I think is that back then, I think most people had faith that the government was there for them and not just the big banking interests and big business, so there was relatively little actual violence as a result of people being denied cash on demand. I just wonder what would happen the debt crisis isn't resolved, and 10% of the adult population went to their banks tomorrow, demanded all or most of the cash in their accounts, and were denied. MAJOR panic, riots, shooting???

Any thoughts on this?
