Face Palmer User ID: 48450612 Germany 10/16/2013 12:58 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Not your money "The world will soon wake up to the reality that everyone is broke and can collect nothing from the bankrupt, who are owed unlimited amounts by the insolvent, who are attempting to make late payments on a bank holiday in the wrong country, with an unacceptable currency, against defaulted collateral, of which nobody is sure who holds title." Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity. The woman who is not pursued sets up the doctrine that pursuit is offensive to her sex, and wants to make it a felony. No genuinely attractive woman has any such desire. - H.L. Mencken, In Defense Of Women |

Why do you need that much the teller asked? None of your fucking business was my reply. How the fuck dare you ask someone what they need their money for? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 46159180 You're new to this aren't you? 2 things: Banks don't carry about 90% of their deposits, which means large withdrawals put them in danger of not being able to service other customers. So they don’t want to let go of their pile that you think is yours. The federal government thinks large cash withdrawals are suspicious and requires the banks to question customers over a certain amount. "God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, & always, well informed... If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty... Let them take arms... What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. " - Thomas Jefferson in 1787 |

Anything over 9999.00 is reportable to IRS so I took it out in 8k increments. Didn't get any pushback. Although they were "discussing" it with managers. So who knows what was being said. Anonymous Coward User ID: 48444584 United States 10/16/2013 01:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Chase again. After reading a few posts I went to my local chase bank and tried to get to my savings account. I have done this several hundred times in the past. Guess what........won't even allow me to get to it. only my checking. Went inside to ask why......they simply said it was a new policy to their atm machines. WTF??????? Shit's getting real! Quoting: DeNesto 46159180 Please, OP, for your own peace of mind, use a local credit union, preferably one that is non-Federal. Sometimes a Federal credit union will use a DBA (Doing Business As) that drops "Federal" from their public name, so just because a credit union name does not include the word "Federal", it doesn't guarantee that it is non-Federal. Having said that, I would still use a Federal credit union over a bank, if a non-Federal credit union was not available to me. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 46159180 They asked you what you needed it for?? What's a teller need to know for? Yep. They've done that to me too. Wells Fargo. They must've asked 5-6 times why I was taking my money out. I skirted the question each time. So they changed tactics...asking me if I was opening another account in a different bank and offering me cashiers checks instead of cash. Not sure if its policy or nosy bankers. But it seems to be standard practice |

And yes, you need to wait 1-2 business days to get it in hands. If you just want to change it to another account or another bank you can do it in a couple minutes, both online or at the bank. |

Good points, but I believe that they no longer have to carry 10% of their deposits in cash; I believe it was reduced to 3% just a couple of years ago. That 3% can go mighty fast when a lot of people take cash withdrawals. |

It has always been $800 a day and about 30 minutes ago I tried to withdraw $800 and it wouldn't let me. So i tried $700 then $600 and still nothing. $500 worked though. You have handed it over out of trust and they will do a Cyprus on it if they want to. (In Cyprus they took half of their deposits in the blink of an eye.) I feel for you. :/ |
