Exactly.

I can't believe the lack of backbone and fortitude displayed by Boehner and some of these other Repugnantcans.

They think this was a hard fought battle?

Please.

They didn't get shot at. They didn't spill their blood or watch their friends get blown up.

HEROES, who were kept away from THEIR memorials and rose up against Obama and the elitists in the District of Criminals understand a hard fight.

We need real leadership, not some two bit, bought and paid for shill as Speaker of the House.

If this does pass because Boehner allows a vote on it and doesn't require the Hastart rule implemented, then he needs to be tarred, feathered, and run out on a rail.

THAT is how things were done in this country once upon a time... when men were men and understood that fighting evil means sometimes you've got to kick ass and make your enemy scared of you.

Stop worrying about our souls and start worrying about the government. It needs to collapse. It is NOT FUNCTIONAL ANYMORE. IT DOESN'T WORK. WE HAVE NO MONEY. OBAMACARE IS A DISASTER. It all needs to END. And the beginning of the end is the recognition and admission that our system is broken and cannot be fixed. It is broken beyond repair and hope because it is founded on lies and false principles. We need to go back to basics and break down the Federal government. Someone needss to stand up and start this process.

At some point the carousel needs to stop so we can get off and go back to work. Right now it's spinning so fast we're going to go flying over into space.

I don't think you understand how this works.

Suffer now or suffer later.

INNOCENT PEOPLE SUFFER AT THE HANDS OF THE GOVERNMENT EVERY SINGLE DAY. But that's OK because our government is doing it to "protect us" from terrorists, right? Those kids we burn to death in Pakistan might have grown up to blow us up, you know!

Re: GUYS, is there a REALISTIC chance that the HOUSE WON'T PASS the deal today?
Under the Articles of Confederation maybe, not under the U.S. Constitution. The U.S. Constitution explicitly states that federal authority supersedes that of the states.
 Quoting: Step Back 19192910

That's not entirely accurate.

Federal authority only supersedes the states for the things that the Constitution explicitly grants. Everything else is reserved to the states.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24760791

True, but the General Welfare clause is a caveat. It states, "The Congress shall have Power to lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States". General Welfare is obviously open to broad interpretation. In fact, the founders themselves couldn't agree on the authority granted to the federal government by this clause. Madison said it applies only to the powers outlined in article 1 section 8. Hamilton insisted it granted the federal government to use any resources available to it to promote the general welfare of the nation however it see fit.

It is predetermined that we shall squabble over the authority of the federal government in perpetuity, in my opinion, if the founders were unable to agree upon a universal understanding of the authority as it was being written.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 19192910

That is an excellent point, but in practice it probably means that the states get the freedom that they can ensure through the peaceful resistance, or arms if necessary, of their people - as what else does freedom in its most basic form derive from? We can say it's from God, but I don't remember him shouldering a musket for any side.
 Quoting: mehitable lives

Who's "God" are you referring to? The one the founder's of this nation worshipped and served, or the GOD who created everything to begin with? This government was setup to make MAN the "highest authority", NOT the Creator. Look up the word "democracy" in a good-ole printed-on-paper dictionary. In a true "democracy" the will of carnal MAN is made the "highest authority" in determining the "way forward". (We hear and read these two words everyday in the media coming from our government and business leadership!) The Laws of GOD in America are subject to the "interpretations" and "experiences" of MAN, rather than MAN following the Laws of GOD, or the doctrine of Son of GOD, or the input of the Holy Spirit. Today, in this modern computer controlled society, laws, legislation, policies, procedures, and human relationships are molded by MAN, and his Artificial Intelligence acting in a "godlike" role, to serve the desires and passions, the "will" of carnal MAN, NOT the CREATOR OF ALL.

Those innocent people you claim to care about are going to be hurt far worse in the future if this debt scheme is allowed to continue.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5799367

Doing what is right sometimes hurts a lot.
“My religious belief teaches me to feel as safe in battle as in bed. God has fixed the time for my death. I do not concern myself about that, but to be always ready, no matter when it may overtake me. That is the way all men should live, and then all would be equally brave.”
-Stonewall Jackson

"The Bible that is falling apart usually belongs to a person who is not." - Charles Spurgeon

“I apprehend no danger to our country from a foreign foe . . . Our destruction, should it come at all, will be from another quarter. From the inattention of the people to the concerns of their government, from their carelessness and negligence, I must confess that I do apprehend some danger. I fear that they may place too implicit a confidence in their public servants, and fail properly to scrutinize their conduct; that in this way they may be made the dupes of designing men, and become the instruments of their own undoing. Make them intelligent, and they will be vigilant; give them the means of detecting the wrong, and they will apply the remedy.”

“If we abide by the principles taught in the Bible, our country will go on prospering and to prosper; but if we and our posterity neglect its instructions and authority, no man can tell how sudden a catastrophe may overwhelm us and bury all our glory in profound obscurity.” -Daniel Webster

Something could happen today that could change everything in the blink of an eye.

A miracle is needed at this point.

Without a miracle we are watching a dictatorship and the total death of the two party system.

I feel very sad today.
