Does this mean the end of the Tea Party?
Can some of the Americans explain a few things to some of us Brits.

Now they (the Tea Party) have forced a shut down and gained nothing, have they lost all credibility?

Does Boehner get sacked as speaker?

Does this all get repeated in February?

Think of the Tea Party as nagging wife to her husband's terrible eating habits warning of the day he will suffer a heart attack. Today being a close call but he hasn't changed his way, so the wife will still nag.

Around their shores: indignant burning with the fires of Orc" - William Blake, America a Prophecy

"The very word "'secrecy'" is repugnant in a free and open society; and we are as a people inherently and historically opposed to secret societies, to secret oaths and to secret proceedings." - John F. Kennedy, New York City, April 27, 1961

The so-called "Tea Party" started with very good intent, but was very quickly compromised and co-opted by the usual powers that be.

Does that help you to understand?

When you hear the words "tea party" today, it is entirely 100% meaningless. It is simply another part of this ACT, this CHARADE we call "government".

The tea party hasn't existed since it was taken over by party hacks.

It's sort of like if a punk band goes mainstream, then they are no longer punk.

If they didn't have some credibility the barriers wouldn't have been moved to the front of the white house and national parks would not have been breached. IMHO.

Thanks for the support.

Here is how I see it. People who believe that Government and Politics is a 100% pony show also believe that totalitarianism can or will be fully established. They give way too much credit to the smoke and mirror mentality.

The Vets who moved the barriers were "dead" serious.

The Tea Party gains momentum. I predict Boehner will be sacked as speaker, and Mitch McConnell will be primaried and replaced.

Oh wow they moved some barriers. Big fucking deal. Just some old fogeys letting off steam. Same shit happens after every football game in Europe.

Those guys will continue to vote for republicans as the "lesser of two evils" and not change a damn thing.
