Study shows 73 percent of people are not happily married, 46 percent say they'd leave their spouse or partner to be with their true love
The study conducted by Siemens Festival Nights found that as many as 73 percent of people surveyed say they are "making do" in their relationship because their true love got away.
"The 'making do' part is sad, in the sense of, we're not really tapped into, 'Why are we in this, what are we looking for long term, and what do I really desire?'" said relationship expert Kavita Patel.
"Well, it's better to be with somebody than nobody. I think that comes up for people," said Patel.

What's worse, 17 percent of respondents said they met their soul mates when it was too late - after they were already paired-off or married.

And 46 percent say they'd leave their spouse or partner to be with their true love.

The study, of 2,000 people in London, also found that 75 percent of adults say their definition of love changes as they get older.

Re: Study shows 73 percent of people are not happily married, 46 percent say they'd leave their spouse or partner to be with their true love
This just tells me that 73% of those polled are unhappy people in general. You can remove marriage from the equation. If they divorce, they'll ironically marry again and eventually despise that marriage and spouse too.

The percentage that believe in "soul mates" are infantile, especially if they are men!! I remember working with a (married) guy that I had absolutely no romantic interest in. After having known one another for about three months, he confessed he felt we were soulmates. I can't believe so many women fall for this shit!

Who the hell would risk getting married these days? You never know what sort of douchebag you're tying yourself to, even after years of knowing that person!

It's really sad.

Also, at 38, my sense of what love is has never changed, aside from exponentially expanding when I had a kid at 22.

I think I will conduct a social experiment--unless my husband objects. I'm going to contact an ex boyfriend and tell him he's the love of my life and the one who got away. Then I'll do the same with a co-worker. Then I'll join a church and tell a married guy I'm miserable in my marriage and that I think he's my soulmate!! I'll have to throw in a couple of kinky sexual fantasies to seal the deal(s), except for with the ex boyfriend. I'm sure their wives won't mind. ;)

Stupid idiots its all hormones anyway. There is no such thing as true love that's been created by BS Hollywood. Love is what You make of it and how much You put into it. If You married a jerk whom doesn't want to try that's Your fault for not being picky and picking the right mate.

The only problem with these marriages is a lack of "understandable Communications".

If each of the parties will scream louder and more frequently at the other party then the communication of each person's frustration with the other person will be noticeably improved.

Throwing things works too.
