DizzieMissLizzie User ID: 9144209 United States 10/17/2013 02:05 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I believe that most beans are full of protein. I was wondering if some other people have ideas for meat replacement since it's hard to get good meat and be able to afford it too. I don't know of anything besides the beans. Quoting: Ms. Superduper Being mostly vegan, but not very strict about it, I think it's good to be thinking about ways to become and remain strong without eating meat. Food is sooo expensive and I would like to use any money on other necessities. Thanks for any input. Chia seeds - I use them in my fruit and/or vegetable smoothies and sometime add them to a veggie dish. |

Blend all ingredients in blender. 2. Spray skillet with olive oil or cooking spray and cook like the usual pancakes. 3. Top with your favorite pancake topping and enjoy! Anonymous Coward User ID: 25924271 United States 10/17/2013 02:34 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | nuts and derivatives. but they are more expensive than beans. I wait until they put them on clearance. If they have the best flavor you can use them in cooking. Stir fry or add them to ramen soup. Not so much for protein, but avocados have the rich fat that is part of the meat experience. again wait till they are clearing them for under a dollar and eat it right away. What I mean by rich fat is that you can taste it and digest it and enjoy the process, as opposed to the fat in processed food that you dont really taste but are incurring the calories anyway. eat 'em with beans. Eggs. they are one of the most perfect sources. almost every critter in the world loves eggs. communities of people would move to cold desolate islands and essentially live off the eggs of seabirds. they would climb cliffs, trees etc to harvest the primary food when there was no fish or they could not fish because of the weather. |

Beans don't have complete protein chains...rice completes the protein chain, it's very difficult to replace meat. I never forgive and I never forget I am a licensed firearm holder. It's produced by bacteria and no plants make it. It can be found in earth, but it comes from the animals that deposit it there. some say it can be found in ocean plants but again, it comes from the marine life that live in the ocean. There are supplements. If you're vegan and you don't replenish your B12, you'll become very ill over time and will experience psychological issues not to mention the other physical health problems associated with B12 depletion/deficiency. Explains why the global EL-ites want humans to stop eating meat altogether. They KNOW doing so will reduce our life span. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 48175751 United States 10/17/2013 03:13 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You can eat Nutritional Yeast for the B12. Yummy cheezy flavor and great on just about anything. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 17851333 A lot of people suggest so-called nutritional yeast because that's what they've been told or read, but so-called nutritional yeast isn't something that can be found in an abundance in nature. "Nutritional yeast" is sold in stores, but it's cultured via a manufacturing process. Better suggestions for sources of B12 would be sources that can be readily found in nature, and that source is animals. You won't find "nutritional yeast" in nature, readily available for all, as it's sold in stores. Companies manufacture "nutritional yeast" in large portions and then KILL the bacteria (flora), otherwise you'll end up with a yeast overgrowth problem in your body which presents yet another health problem. |

Milk is a fantastic source of protein, at a gram per ounce of quality protein, it's cheap because of its density...there are 128 grams of protein in a gallon of milk for what, $3.50 I never forgive and I never forget I am a licensed firearm holder. Getting meat without any "special additives" is costly today. Might I suggest a simple solution. Eggs. Eggs have an amazing amount of protein, and can be had (Even the organic, grass fed variety) at a fairly low price. Ultimately, get a couple of hen birds, and then you have an investment that will pay you with awesome eggs, and you'll know where the eggs are coming from! |

Understandable considering who's giving them. Nuts and seeds. Look into it. Good mentions already - Chia, Hemp.. im a fan of pumpkin seeds (really nice creamy/nutty taste) and walnuts. Nothing needs to die for you. No animal wants to die for you. Your body/mind doesn't want decomposing animal carcass and all the shit it is treated with as a pathetic excuse for 'food'. |

My mom buys her meats that way. She doesn't eat a lot of meat, but when she does, it's lean. She spends maybe $15-$20 a week, if that much, on her meats from Whole Foods, and she gets a LOT for that little bit of money. She usually visits the store once a week, but sometimes she skips a week. She buys it from the fresh meats dept., where their butcher works (usually towards the rear of the store). |
