Bush's wars were off the books until Obama took office. That's one reason the deficit appears to jump after 2008.

Once you figured out you were wrong claiming the OPs chart was not right, you just changed your argument and decided to blame Bush for problems of today. Even if what you claim is true, Obamas lowest budget deficit is still double Bushs in his last term.

Sorry, but this point of view is nonsense. See, we had this little thing called a financial meltdown, and the largest part of that $1.4T was flooding the system with dollars to stave off an out and out collapse. So, from Obama's point of view, that 1.4 was going to be required by whoever was in office, and since then they've lowered it to $750B, so yes, they have cut the deficit by about 50%.

Almost everyone on the right has forgotten about the Bush financial meltdown of 2008. Also the Reagan meltdown of 1987.

Yeah, I love this all of the dem talking heads are talking about how great he is for the economy because he cut the deficit in half...but they never mention the fact that he exploded the deficit first and then brought it down.

We aren't any better off then we were.

This article places the blame on Bush, Obama, Congress and lastly, us, the voters. I think I would agree with the assessment for the most part. I don't however feel Bush should be blamed because of his tax cuts. Washington knew we had reduced revenue and should have changed their spending habits accordingly.
