SWAT would not be as visible. The link I posted earlier stated that the politicians do speak of false flag. And one politician thought Boston was a false flag. Having said that, I think Keene maybe taking care of their own. Just in case, the citizens are ready. Quoting: Corn Dog That's my impression too. As someone else pointed out, NH is pretty well known in new england for open carry laws and their gun controls aren't very strict. Lots of regular joes own lots of fire arms there and shoot regularly at the many gun ranges. I spent some time there and recall a few local cops on the news saying, look, we want civilians to have guns, because we can't always get there in time. For cops, NH seems fairly rational. Keene isn't a terribly small town but I'm not sure they even have 4 full "swat" or "sniper" teams. I think using that term in this situation is unwarranted, if what we're seeing even is guys with guns, and I'm not convinced of that either. |

NHs becoming another libtardia. It's still the best state in new england. If you absolutely have to be in new england for work or family reasons or whatnot, its the only state you'd want to live in there. Obviously the motto's a little outdated but compared to all the states around it, it's an oasis. |

AlphaB User ID: 48366992 United States 10/21/2013 03:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | New Hampshire being a "shall issue state" and have an open carry law that does not require a permit, I would feel very safe without police that any public gathering. If some nut were to try something at a public outdorr gathering he would be drilled by any number of law abiding citizens. Quoting: New Hampshire 180852 Is it possible that these pictures show volunteer residents? I would think that police would be required to be in some sort of uniform-- I didn't see this until after I made this post, but I agree with the below. Anonymous Coward User ID: 48491721 United States 10/21/2013 03:43 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Keene NH is a libertarian destination. It's quite an amazing story. Since the government declared war on the American people, it doesn't surprise me that they'd place snipers wherever freedom-loving people gather. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25527367 freekeene.com That's the first thing I thought. The ultra-paranoid Police State is reminding the Free State Project that they're still in control. Who were they looking out for... al Qae'da? A jihadist unicorn with a bomb vest? There are only 23,272 residents in Keene. That is just f'n ridiculous! It looks more like a prison yard with guard towers. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25527367 freekeene.com :0612043: That sounds like about it. I'm from Keene and wanted to chime in that this is accurate. We have a rotary in the center of town that host people protesting some thing or other just about every day. During election time it was almost all anti-Obama. Another unrelated thing I thought worth noting though...before I moved away the police forced was considering purchasing one of those bearcats. It was odd because Keene is one of the most peacful place you could ever live. There was absolutely no need for it and the police force didn't even seem to want it. The whole town got up in arms about it and it was very strange because even the people arguing in favor of it did not want it. I believe it was being paid for by the government, and if we didn't buy it we lost the money. (I could be remembering that wrong though, this was a couple years ago.) I moved away and never found out what happened. Sorry for the wall of text there. Anyway pumpkinfest is fantastic, I would highly recommend if you're ever in the area. |
MtBarb User ID: 29714721 United States 10/21/2013 03:57 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Well, since public gatherings are often targeted by nuts and lone gunmen islamic terrorists, I see the logic. Quoting: The Fallen Jedi 45078308 I'm not saying I agree with it, just saying I see the logic being used by the police. It's a double edged sword. On the one hand, if some shit heel nut job Obama supporter starts clipping people or blowing up pressure cookers then the target interdiction teams could clip their ass. On the other hand, it's a bit alarmist and intrusive. And shows the growing police state. I don't know, it's tricky times in which we live. Yes, but to have so-called perfect safety, you must give up your rights to liberty. Are we willing to pay that price? ....and, then you will not really be safe, because you would not have a right to say anything. A nation (or person) that would give up its freedom in exchange for a measure of temporary safety deserves neither freedom nor safety. (Quote credited to Benjamin Franklin.) MtBarb |

Ill ask and report back if the thread's still around. To me it just looks like locals though. Like what was said above, everyone there owns guns and you don't need a license for open carry. Its pretty common. |

I saw some feds casing everyone and I sauntered up to one them and ask. "Hey you expecting any trouble"...he seemed pissed that first, I would talk to him and second, it was in an off-hand way!!!! |

Quoting: 2012Portal All joking aside, they must have a reason for doing this? They are for the F.F. teams protection. Anybody that tries to stop the F.F. gets it. Anonymous Coward User ID: 20589235 United States 10/21/2013 05:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | wow ... talk about "overkill" the police state is upon us. Keene NH with multiple sniper teams on the roofs ... as if a Presidential Visit is just about to occur, only the President is 600 miles away in DC. Here when they have large events they had a portable police tower they bring in ... but that is for crowd observation only, and they only bring that out if they think the "gangs" may show up. (no outside platform and dark glass all around, they couldn't use that as a shooting platform if their lives depended upon it). Coming to your next county fair: armored vehicles with full time swat people aiming guns at the passing crowds. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 48109275 United States 10/21/2013 05:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | these are just concerned policemen and woman who care about there communities and would probably be sick with greif for years , if something crazy happend on their watch, they are more than concerned about the many many recent cases of wackos going off on innocent pedestrians. |
harryhood87 User ID: 34774361 United States 10/21/2013 05:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This is my first post. I signed up because im from Keene and thought id never see Keene on GLP I come on here for the fun topics and breaking news and science articles. Anyways, the men on the roof were most likely local area police officers from near by towns outfitted with some gear and posted for spotting. Most of keenes police are on foot patrol and bicycle during pumpkin fest. Half the festival is at night and dimly lit so everyone can see the pumpkins. Keene is rapidly growing in population and the police have changed from the kind small town police to pretty much robo cops. We do have a state college in town and things can get pretty rowdy. ive attatched a video from a few years ago. [link to youtu.be] harryhood87 |
