Its really about 5 times a year. Its a luxury for me to have a pizza delivered, or go out to eat. I am pretty frugal the rest of the time. I have two jobs, and one pays only 8 an hour. Its more than I make sitting on the couch. I figure if I can splurge to go out or order in, than the person who is also working that second job deserves it. I am so grateful to those who do not take from the government. They work hard jobs, but they do it all themselves. Its my way of saying "we are all in this together". |

Plus, I'm tired of rewarding lousy service. Seriously, most wait staff these days spend more time on their smartphones than doing their job. If I owned a restaurant, I'd fire anyone who used their smartphone on a shift - no warning... fired. Now I tip $2.00 on that same $8.50. I get the same service I used to get. Even better, the waitresses are happy with me. Also, I only leave a tip with someone I can actually see with my own eyes. For example, I no longer leave a tip in a hotel room. Great topic. Thanks for starting it. I only eat at eat at two restaurants, so I have to tip well. they are both small, family owned and i get the same servers every time. 2 dollars for an 8.50 bill is a very good tip fyi. 5 is just ridiculous. I have deep honor for your beliefs, we all need to do what is right for us. good for you. |

I know what it's like to work for tips, so I always tip well. Not bragging about it, just replying to the thread on how I tip. I don't go around in my everyday life , talking about how well I tip.
