I Think My Sons Law Class Is Being Used To Classify And Quantify His Beliefs
Okay I have been helping my 14 year old son with his High School law studies class. When I went to HS I know there were very few questions on a test that asked me for ONLY my opinion. It was mostly factual and there were very few (if any) questions I could answer with just my opinion. However, a large percentage of the questions my son is being asked require answers that are 100% opinion. They seem to be the type of questions you would ask someone to classify them in to a category of thought or belief. They also are inquiring about his method of participating in the political process. It's like he's being polled for his views and ideals and to see if he is a conformist. It's just weird since I don't remember any such questions when I went to school. Here's the last assignment (you be the judge):

1. Why did political parties and special interest groups form? What roles do they play in shaping public policy?

2.How do you think the media influences the decisions of citizens and government officials?

3. How do you think the media influences people's views on political ideas and events? How do you think the impact of the media has changed over time with the invention of television and the Internet?

4. How can individual citizens influence public policy?

5. Choose a social or political issue that interests you. What changes would you like to see related to this issue? How could you and other citizens help bring about that change? Give at least three examples of actions you could take.

6. Why is it important for you to participate in your community? Why is it important for you to vote or otherwise be part of the political process? Give at least one reason for each.
