Something about bringing prosperity during the coming year. Sorry to say that tradition died with them as none of the cousins, including myself, can stand Black Eyed Peas. Oh, and they always threw the ham hock in there too - which just made it worse. Shiver - lol |

Quoting: whiteangel I just do beans when I have a ham bone. So just like every other month. Cooking a ham for one is a lot to eat. Even when I just find one about 8lbs. So I don't do it often. I just toss in a chicken bullion cube, lots of Sage, Black Pepper a Bay Leaf and a bit of good old fashioned table salt with the added Iodine and I like Great Northern and Pinto. I like my beans juicy but not like watery. I always add a bunch of hot sauce when eating. I just eat bread a butter or a couple tortillas. I'm a Northwest Person. Be don't like corn bread. If we do, we like is sickening sweet like a corn cake. Last Edited by deanoZXT on 01/03/2015 04:05 PM-Everything's more awesome when you lean into it. |

An aside: I've been bowling almost 4 days in a row this weekend. Working on improving my footwork and game. And I will be going bowling with my coach again tomorrow morning. I am adapting to my new ball quickly - and my scores are finally returning. I bowled 155, 111, 140 yesterday. Not very impressive from a general bowling scores standpoint but my scores have been significantly lower than that for the past 2 weeks. So I am happy I am adapting to the new style...*and* new ball. I am looking forward to breaking the 200 barrier. ;) |
