hi :mtea:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Was trying to find a current map showing the warm waters in the Pacific but I guess it is just too early. Did find this:
Look out! Forecasters warn El Nino could be strongest ever recorded and urge disaster response teams to prepare
[link to www.dailymail.co.uk]
For us along the Front Range of Colorado, 97-98 brought record breaking snow fall storm. Officially,21.9 inches October 24-25, 1997, fell but as most know, that was out at DIA, where I live, we had over 3 feet, with some areas close to 4 feet. This is the same storm that stranded many Bronco players. The snow drifted a little and buried the cars on my block. This was when my daughter was suppose to be born and I was thankful she came two weeks early!
2006-2007 brought one snow storm after another, for 8 weekends in a row getting snow. This meant that our neighborhood street had a foot of snow packed ice that wasn't cleared until Valentine's Day when a front-end loader finally made it down the street to clear this "glacier" ice that had pot holes from hell in it. Those pot holes, the neighbors were always trying to keep filled with snow to patch. It was a mess.
2002-2003 brought a huge drought to Colorado and it was also HOT.
The Hayman fire was a forest fire that started 95 miles (153 km) southwest of Denver, Colorado and 35 miles (56 km) northwest of Colorado Springs on June 8, 2002, and became the largest of the Colorado wildfires in the state's recorded history. Hundreds of firefighters fought the fast-moving fire, which caused nearly $40 million in firefighting costs, burned 133 homes, 138,114 acres, and forced the evacuation of 5,340 people.
[link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)]
In 82-83, I was living in West Central New Mexico, and the snow just kept coming and the temps were frigid. I love snow but that year, it was wonderful to finally see Spring time.
97-98 was the strongest El Nino in recorded history, not in history. 82-83 I think was in second place, but I can't find that info, still too early.
This is just my memories with what I went through. Others would need to chime in with what they experienced.
Point to make - El Nino has wild weather swings, sometimes major droughts for impact areas and other times major winter weather.
Usually, when I see those titles, I blow past them and forget about them. But since it was posted in here, I read through it. Definitely interesting stuff. Especially this part:
......
THIS FITS WITH ALL THE EMERGENCY MOBIL MORGUES AND MOBIL EMERGENCY MEDIC VEHICLES BEING STACKED UP EVERYWHERE ALONG THE NORTH CAROLINA TENNESSEE BORDER..
THERE ARE SOME GOOD YOUTUBE VIDEOS OF THEM PARKED IN EMPTY LOTS EVERYWHERE IN NC.
Agreed. I have seen evidence of this myself, though not as pronounced as some here have claimed. That said, after last night's conversation, I will definitely be more watchful.
Earthquake and Volcano Threat for USA Increases
Monday, June 8, 2015 Press Release 3-2015
9:00 AM EDT
In a rare letter to Mr. Craig Fugate, the Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Space and Science Research Corporation (SSRC), has disclosed that we are about to enter a potentially catastrophic period of record earthquakes and volcanic eruptions throughout the United States.
The letter was signed by SSRC President, Mr. John Casey, and delivered to FEMA headquarters in Washington, D.C. today. In the letter, Mr. Casey outlines how the ongoing dramatic reduction in the Sun's energy output will not only plunge the world into a decades-long cold epoch, but at the same time bring record geophysical devastation in monster earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. These cold climate periods called "solar hibernations" or "solar minimums," are well known phenomena in the solar physics community. The SSRC has done important pioneering work in the field of solar- climate modeling and has established itself as a leader in climate prediction and the study of these hibernations of the Sun.
Citing new research included in the SSRC's semi-annual Global Climate Status Report (GCSR) to come out on Wednesday, the letter to FEMA's Craig Fugate contained an important warning for all major earthquake fault zones and volcanically active areas. The research focuses especially on the increased threat for the New Madrid Seismic Zone (NMSZ) between St. Louis and Memphis.
[link to www.spaceandscience.net]
Here is the letter to the FEMA Administrator
[link to www.spaceandscience.net]
From the letter...
Therefore, we believe the well known high risk seismic zones and volcanically active regions in
the US, especially California, South Carolina and in particular the New Madrid Seismic Zone
(NMSZ) may experience major earthquakes or volcanism at any time between now and the
early 2030’s when the bottom of the next solar hibernation is reached.
