Spectacular long duration Eruption & Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) Angry Sunspot Returns

SPECTACULAR CME: Old sunspot AR2644 has returned--and it is still active. On April 18th at approximately 2000 UT, the sunspot's magnetic canopy exploded and hurled a bright coronal mass ejection (CME) into space.

This CME will probably miss Earth. The explosion's epicenter was too far off the Sun-Earth line for a direct hit. However, NOAA analysts are still evaluating the possibility of a glancing blow.

The US Air Force Is Reorganizing to Fight in Space

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The U.S. Air Force, under pressure from Congress to take more seriously a potential war in space, is creating a new job for a three-star general and making other organizational changes to meet what many see as a growing threat.

The move follows criticism by lawmakers that the Air Force is not properly prepared to fight in space, an area being increasingly militarized by the U.S., Russia, and China. Air Force leaders say the reorganization and new general billet will help space-related projects compete for budget dollars against earth-bound aircraft, drones, nuclear forces, and the rest.

NASA spies enormous new crack forming in Greenland glacier

Monday, April 17, 2017, 8:51 PM - An immense new crack has formed in Greenland's Petermann glacier, and NASA scientists have now returned the first close-up images of the fissure, which may herald the birth of yet another massive iceberg from the glacier.

Newly discovered exoplanet may be best candidate in search for signs of life

The newly discovered super-Earth LHS 1140b orbits in the habitable zone around a faint red dwarf star named LHS 1140, in the constellation of Cetus (The Sea Monster). Red dwarfs are much smaller and cooler than the Sun and, although LHS 1140b is ten times closer to its star than the Earth is to the Sun, it only receives about half as much sunlight from its star as the Earth and lies in the middle of the habitable zone. The orbit is seen almost edge-on from Earth and as the exoplanet passes in front of the star once per orbit it blocks a little of its light every 25 days.

"This is the most exciting exoplanet I've seen in the past decade," said lead author Jason Dittmann of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (Cambridge, USA). "We could hardly hope for a better target to perform one of the biggest quests in science—searching for evidence of life beyond Earth."

Hi all Xx

Just got back from hospital! My youngest was playing rugby yesterday and fell, took him doctors earlier and they said take him to the hospital, waited 5 hours to be seen :/
he has torn hamstring which is better than a break but still very painful so he has ibuprofen and he is now with my eldest Son and I am at work! He gets the rest of the week off so extended Easter Holiday for him, but with a pain in the butt lol

Oh no! A torn hamstring is nothing to sneeze at. Takes a long while to heal, and he needs to take it easy and let it heal, otherwise it will pull again really easily. Poor guy, that's painful.
