Do some research OP, this is total nonsense, as much as it'd be fun if it were true, it just isn't. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 34804030 Link? I'm also waiting OP provide a single authentic link to actual documents of the Mexican government. It's a tough galaxy. If you want to survive, you've gotta know...where your towel is. |

Cool story bro. Now can you provide any link to ACTUAL and AUTHENTIC documents or website of the Mexican government corroborating your claim???? ...And can you show us your analysis and scientifically proven evidence that they are fake, along with your or and tourists' photos of the thriving trinket traders actually trading these objects so we can see if they are copies of these fakes? That would be a cooler story, Bro. |

"After a decade of efforts by dedicated collectors and dealers, at long last an improvement is apparent in the eBay antiquities section. At times as many as 95% of the items in certain categories were fake, but finally someone has taken notice of us, and the worst sellers have been ejected. This certainly doesn't mean that if you buy an 'ancient' item on eBay now that you can be assured of its authenticity, but as of July 2009 things are suddenly looking SO much better. We're an open group and very broad based in the range of subjects that we like to talk about, but NO POLITICS PLEASE, since we are a peaceful tribe and greatly dislike flame wars. Any artefact dating from China's Ming Dynasty or earlier is sufficiently 'ancient' to attract our interest." Now again, instead of presenting a forum discussion group that focuses on online fakes as your authority on these Mexican artefact fakes please verify scientifically your disclaimer that it is 'pathetic crap' which is of course, your value judgement. in addition, please provide the scientific evidence that these are indeed fakes and post your photos of traders selling them on trinket markets in Mexico. Thank you in advance. |

Thank you in advance. I directed you where to go to present the fake crap for discussion by experts in the field of antiquities. Of course I do not expect you or any other "true believers" to take my word on it, as I am not an expert in the field, simply an enthusiast of Precolumbian art and artifacts. So present the crap to some real experts, then report back here! As with all antiquities, the burden of proof so far as authentification lies upon the one who proposes it as genuine, not upon the one doubting it! It takes provenance, documentation, and scientific analysis to prove that something IS real. The burden of proof is upon you, not upon me or upon anyone else who doubts or scoffs at this idiotic crap. The tourist crap is prima facie F A K E to anyone with even a glancing familiarity with the real stuff. I Support Our First Responders |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 48493808 United States 10/24/2013 04:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | For those claiming .... IT'S FAKE ... where is YOUR PROOF that its fake? I tend to believe these are geniune for personal reasons. In the late 70s, my father was working in a senior position in the Belizean government. Belize borders both Mexico (in the North) and Guatemala (in the West). Belize has many historical OLMEC structures. To make a long story short, in the late 70s, there was a team of British archaelogist that was escavated Altun Ha (a Olmec pyramid structure near the Mexican border built by the OLMECS). My father witness, catalogued and photographed SIMILAR ARTIFACTS as shown on the video (on behalf of the Belizean government). The artifacts were later authorized (by the Prime Minister) to be taken to England for forensic examination. My father retired in 1998, and as of that time, most of the artifacts were NEVER RETURNED. The Belize government is bought and paid for by England, so whenever my father would enquire about the artifacts, he was repeatedly told "the artifacts are being examined". Point is ... I wouldn't be so quick to holler ... "FAKE". |
