Got any proof other than NASA or other space agencies that "This happens every 11 years?"
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 48686329 Yes [ link to www.nasa.gov] Quoting: Anonymous Coward 48550424 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 48686329 YES I AM ! I didn't read your question, NASA is the best source. To measure the sun's magnetic field with amateur equipment is very difficult. You need a large aperture telescope to gather enough light for spectroscopy, then you need a special type of polarizing spectroscope called a stellar spectropolarimeter. The Zeeman effect shows the magnetic field strength by the splitting of the absorption lines in the polarimeter. [ link to en.wikipedia.org] These French amateur astronomers are making the measurements you are after, drop them a line if you want to know more.
