Sleep Paralysis - Alien Abduction
Many people who experience sleep paralysis claim to see a dark presence standing over them, or sitting on their chest making it difficult to breath. This experience can be quite traumatic, particularly for those who are not aware what is actually happening.

During sleep paralysis your body is in a sleeping state or "paralysed," but the mind remains active. Could this explain the majority of alien abduction cases/probes. The fear of being unable to move, and the dark presences surrounding the person would fit quite well to accounts of several "abductees."

Have you experienced sleep paralysis yourself? Did you notice/sense any presence around you? Feel free to share!

notice SP is described as occurring after being asleep (and then half waking.

this has NEVER happened when im waking up, but ALWAYS as im drifting off to sleep.
im not asleep yet, not even halfway and the ringing starts.

anyone else?
i still havent found a SINGLE person who gets it like me, when GOING to sleep...it always after waking up.

ive had it since i was born but no presences that im aware of, just a black hole, a vacuum that sucks me downwards and forwards.

its so freaking PAINFUL to my body.

Ok, they seem to be pretty common experiences. In the video report they mention how different cultures even have a term for this e.g. China = Gui Ya. I find it interesting that a malevolent presence, or at least perceived to be, is a common theme in these experiences. This could be due to the person not being able to comprehend what is happening, and fear taking over..

I find when I have a nightmare, whatever I fear most at that moment within in the dream usually appears. I wonder if this is similar with sleep paralysis? Your inability to think logically in this situation leads to panic and being confronted with your greatest fears.

Does anyone have a theory on the dark presences and why they are so common among people in this state?

They also said a common experience is the feeling of moving a great speed, hence the "flying on a witches broom" theory people used to believe. I also read on some YouTube comments that some people feel physical pain. Is this just an illusion or anticipation of pain, or would you still feel pain once you are completely awake and mobile?

Are the experiences (bad) during sleep paralysis simply visions of your greatest fears brought on by the panic of not being able to comprehend what is taking place?

Re: Sleep Paralysis - Alien Abduction
Had it twice in one night few years ago i think i was 15 or 16. I wasn't even tired or about to sleep it just came from nowhere. I didnt see anything but knew i was being attacked. I remember just thinking that somebody was trying to hurt me and i didnt know why? I was paralysed and it hurt every muscle in my body. I think it kind of altered my mind and all i could think was I need help or i would die. It lasted about 2 minutes and somehow it stopped. It was scary and i didnt know what happened. About 30 minutes later it happened again but i fought it quicker, it only lasted a few seconds. It was probably about a year later when i found out what causes it. Never happened to me since.

IDK but it wasn't normal and it felt like something really strong or heavy was holding me down so i couldnt move i think that i was slightly choking also. It was probably an alien/demon that other people have described seeing just preying on helpless people for no reason.

I've experiened that once or twice and it felt natural and almot pleasant but its a horrible experience when it is induced out of nowhere especially when not even tired you just get instantly paralysed.

I used to have severe Sleep paralysis attacks from 1 to 7+ times a night for about 6 months. I had severe anxiety before going to sleep because once you go without sleep for so long you get really paranoid.

Now I never seen anything weird but all of the fright and the paralysis was scary enough. All of it stopped once I started praying nightly now wither or not that is kind of a placebo effect to calm my brain is yet to be seen but I recommend it to anyone who is suffering from SP.

What really fascinates me is the similarity between experiences of different people. Why is it always a shadowy presence or silhouette, and a choking sensation?

With lucid dreaming an experienced person can alter their dreams and consciously decide what action to take. Therefore, can you alter the vision you get during sleep paralysis? If you were presented with the dark presence again, could you change the scenario?

yes, for about a week as a teen. Every night wake up, something evil at the foot of the bed, can't move, can't scream. Most awful evil feeling in the world. short, dark, shadow shape at the foot of my twin bed, so evil feeling. I talked myself thru it, closed my eyes till I fell back asleep. I think it went on for 3-4 nights in a row; It was a long time ago...ha!

There seem to be a lot more negative accounts, than positive, although they're probably more likely to share it I guess. I'm tempted to try it for myself, it's not supposed to be too difficult to induce. I wonder if you can attribute that "falling" feeling just before you go off to sleep to sleep paralysis, however brief it is.

I hadn't really learned about aliens or demons or anything like that at the time, I thought it must have been a person but couldn't fathom how they got into the room so quickly without me seeing them. I think they are either evil and do it just for fun or they try to get something from us like implant our ethereal bodies or probe our minds or something like that. What i experienced defo wasn't the kind of paralysis many people experience while dosing off i was wide awake and seconds later was being attacked and paralysed. Maybe it is the same entities that do it to people which is way experiences are similar. I didn't see anything because I was on my side and obviously couldn't turn to see but i know there was defintely something standng over me. Do you have any idea what kind of entities they may be, have you had any experiences?

No I haven't had any experience that I recall, and from the accounts of others it seems I would remember any experience like that for sure. Most people bring it on by laying on their back, hands down by their side, eyes closed, and avoid moving, all the while you keep your brain active. The idea is your body is asleep ("paralysed") but your mind active. Several accounts recall a shadowy figure with white around the area they eyes would be. Some feel "physical" contact, from breathing, touching, hitting, to choking. Others simply sense there is a presence standing over them.

Maybe. The falling feeling is equally freaky with it's sense of loss of control as to physical abilities initially. I tend to jerk myself awake before the crash. lol! It could be a middle spot that pauses/catches in the brain before complete entrance to the dream world. The mind is a strange and wonderful thing.

It truly is! Most people wake up from a dream/nightmare just before something, such as a crash/explosion/death, occurs. I imagine it must be pretty similar with sleep paralysis.

I believe you can. Perhaps like what you do in lucid dreaming. Whether we believe the images are real or not, and just a projection, I believe you can change the energy, either by affecting it on a quantum level or in the same way our thoughts and dispositions affect the events we experience in life.

It is also interesting that it appears to happen more frequently in teens. Perhaps because the mind is still growing. Beliefs, morals, etc are not set in stone yet so your mind is more free to wonder about.

I was reading a site last night that hinted that it may be yourself that you are seeing but the mind does not fully know that at the time. I can't seem to find the link now; going to check the ipad in a minute see if it's there.

Anyway it was interesting what I recall of it.
